There was a knock at the door. Brett looked up from where he was transferring hand-written notes onto the practice’s computer system—he hadn’t yet gotten comfortable with taking the iPad out on calls. He was paranoid he’d drop it in a cow pat, or worse. “Yes, come in!”
One of the veterinary surgery’s receptionists—an efficient blonde called Natasha—sidled in, a wry expression on her face. “Hi, Brett. I’m really sorry to bother you, but there’s a woman on the phone, and she’s being, um, rather rude.”
Frowning, Brett replied, “Who is it? And why is she being rude?”
Natasha blew out a breath and shrugged. “She won’t tell me what the issue is. Won’t even tell me what animal she has. She just keeps saying she’ll only speak to a ‘trained professional.’ I don’t know who it is, either. All I know is her first name is—”
“Samantha?” Brett supplied, his shoulders slumping and eyebrows raising.
“Uh, yeah. How did you know? Oh God, I haven’t gone and insulted one of your friends or something, have I? I didn’t mean to, honestly. It’s just she’s being a bit difficult…”
“Natasha, don’t panic. She’s no friend of mine. I’ve never even met the woman. Besides, if she was one of my friends, I’d be giving her a bollocking for being rude to one of my staff, wouldn’t I? Anyway, if it’s the Samantha I think it is, then she’s being very difficult, and you’re being overly polite. Andrew warned me about her.”
“He did?”
“Yeah. Bloody typical that she’d phone while he’s away. The man barely ever takes a holiday, and now he finally has, his most awkward client is on the blower. He damn well owes me one after this.”
“If she’s a regular client, how come I’ve never spoken to her before?”
Shrugging, Brett replied, “Dunno. Maybe she’s got Andrew’s mobile number or something?”
Natasha gasped. “But he never gives out his mobile number to clients. He’s very strict about that—always asks us to take a message and if it’s urgent, pass it on to him directly.”
“Yeah…” Brett scratched his head. “He didn’t say much about her, beyond that she can be difficult. Honestly, I was a bit distracted when he mentioned it so I wasn’t paying a great deal of attention. I wish I’d asked more questions now, but I never thought I’d have the misfortune of having to deal with her.”
“You haven’t, yet.” Natasha raised her eyebrows and jerked her chin towards the phone on his desk.
“Good point.” He gave a wan smile. “Suppose I’d better find out what she wants, hadn’t I? If she’s special enough to have Andrew’s precious mobile phone number, then I ought to keep her sweet.”
“Probably wise.” Natasha left the room, closing the door behind her, but not before Brett spotted the slight smile on her face. Relieved to pass on the bitchy customer to him, no doubt.
Taking a deep breath, he picked up the phone. “Hello, Brett Coulson speaking. How can I help?”
“Oh,” came the reply, “Brett. Ah, yes. You’re the other vet, aren’t you? Jolly good. Know what you’re talking about, do you?” The woman’s accent was posh, southern. Like she’d been to a finishing school or something.
Gritting his teeth, Brett then pasted a smile on his face, hoping it would be apparent in his tone, despite the daggers he was actually staring at her through the handset. “Yes, I most certainly do.” Should fucking do, after five years of training and the same again working in the profession. I’m not on bloody work experience here.
“But you sound so young.”
Glad she couldn’t see him, Brett rolled his eyes. Her problem obviously wasn’t an emergency, the way she was waffling on, time-wasting. “I’m almost twenty-nine, Mrs…”
“It’s Ms, actually. Samantha Hanson-Bishop here. So you’re still a baby then.”
“Is there something I can help you with, Ms Hanson-Bishop? Only I’ve a call to go out on in a few minutes.” He couldn’t help the emphasis he’d put on the Ms. It could be construed as sarcastic, but it was still a damn sight more polite than anything he really wanted to say. Would she just get to the point already?
“Yes, yes, of course. That’s why I’m telephoning. I just wanted to make sure I was speaking to someone who actually knew what they were talking about. Clearly your receptionist doesn’t know anything about animals, much less my thoroughbred horses.”
Ah, okay, that made things clearer. The stuck-up, posh bird ran a stable. Now the haughty attitude made sense—she was entitled, bored, and thought she was better than everyone else. Wanting to defend Natasha—who was, in fact, very knowledgeable about animals, it being part of her job and all—Brett had to bite his tongue. If the woman, however snobby and irritating, ran a stable of thoroughbreds, then she was no doubt bringing plenty of money into the practice. They were doing okay, but the loss of a big customer without a replacement wasn’t something they’d be able to sustain for very long. And word of mouth was very important in this game—he didn’t want her bad-mouthing him or the surgery.

Paranormal romance, urban fantasy and contemporary romance. I also love teen books.
What would you say is the one thing you are most passionate about?
That is a tie between my writing and my dogs. My husband and I have made a home for several rescue animals and I believe very strongly in giving an animal a forever home and a place they can feel safe. I love my dogs like children, my blind muse of a pup, Taddy in particular.
My writing is a passion as well. I want to some day be able to write full time but that will only happen if I continue to push myself. Girl’s gotta have goals. J

I love to snuggle with my puppy and read, watch Netflix (Walking Dead, Orange is the New Black, Breaking Bad…) I also love to try new restaurants with my husband when he can pry me out of my writing chair.

Warmth pooled low in her belly, desire for the man in front of her derailing her already addled senses. Joanie blinked and tried to get a grip.
She’d just had a sex fantasy about her doctor and he was standing inches away from her.
Maybe she had fallen on her head. Hard.
She glanced away but as she did so, she caught the erection tenting Dr. Buchanan’s trousers before he shifted his white coat to shield it from view.
Well now…
Maybe she wasn’t the only one affected by their close proximity. She didn’t go around sleeping with strange men, however, doctor or not.
But judging by the sizable protrusion, she could climb that bad boy and roost for awhile.
That would be some great physical therapy as far as she was concerned.
Trying to be serious, Joanie cleared her throat.
“And will you be, um, accompanying me for this physical therapy?” Joanie said slowly. All fantasies aside, she wasn’t going anywhere. Not until someone told her what the hell was going on. She watched enough true crime shows. People didn’t get taken out of hospital beds and loaded into SUV’s in the middle of the night without something very wrong going on.
At least, she thought it was night.
She eyed the cup on the bedside table. Did they put something in the water?
“Come on. We have to go.”
“No.” She shrank against the pillows, trying to make it as difficult as possible. God… where was the call button? She frantically searched the wall and tried to reach it. She struggled against them and Nina grabbed hold of her arm.
“Come on, Joanie. Cooperate, please. The man who came after you has friends. We need to get you and the others to safety before he comes looking for you.”
Man who came after me?
Why couldn’t she remember?
“No.”
“Get out of the bed, or the nurse and I will do it for you.” Dr. Buchanan considered her, eyes blazing with challenge.
He was such an arrogant bastard. So why did she want to pull him on top of her and fuck him until they both couldn’t walk?
Gah. She was losing her marbles. One by one. Gone.
“I'm not going anywhere.”
There. She said it again.
“Nina, get the sedative.”
Shit.

Tell us about your title featured in this set:
The book is the first of five books in the series and I love for my titles to match. I thought about what the book was about, a werewolf trying to deal with past hurt and betrayal in his marriage and realizing he still loved his mate and wanted her back. So the title seemed to flow naturally from that theme.
Tell us something about yourself:
I live in Los Angeles, CA. My husband is a Television and Movie Producer and two of my four children are actors in Hollywood. If you've ever seen the Subaru commercial with the little blond boy driving the car and getting a parking ticket and dropping his groceries, that's my baby boy. I am a huge geek at heart. I love everything Star Wars, Marvel, DC, Star Trek and Fantasy. I cosplay with my family at over 5 Comic Cons a year where I speak. I've gotten pretty good at foam armour this year and next year I’m going to tackle even more elaborate cosplays. We'e gone as Star Wars, Steampunk Alice in Wonderland, X-Men, and this year we are DC Villians and Heroes.
Tell us about your writing process:
My process is different. Something will strike me out of nowhere and I'll think, that was be fun to write. A cowboy in space. (My current WIP) Then I jot down a small summary, maybe one page. From there I think about the characters I need and then I write a 20 chapter outline. Some chapters are no more than one sentence. Finally, I start writing. I don't plot out too much, I let the writing flow where it wants to go. It takes me about a month to write a book, but then 3-6 months up to a year to edit.
What is your favourite genre to read?
Paranormal Romance and Fantasy Romance. Though I do love YA and sci-fi as well.
What would you say is the one thing are you most passionate about?
My family. I love my 4 amazing kids and my husband and my 2 dogs, 2 tortoises and bearded dragon. They are everything to me.
When you are not writing, what do you like to do?
Hang with my kids. I home school them. Watch movies, read, sew, go out to lunch with friends. Go to Comic Cons. Boring stuff.
If someone who hasn’t read any your books asked you to describe your story in this set (the elevator pitch!) what would you say?
After a fateful accident throws estranged mates Dakota and Griffin back together, they must decide whether to forgive each other and give in to the passion that still burns between them, or walk away and lose the love of their lives forever.

Dakota washed her body, wrung out her hair and stepped out of the shower. Wrapping the towel around herself, she realized she’d gone in without any clothing. She opened the door to find Griffin standing at the dresser. He turned and his eyes widened slightly.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t realize you were in here.” She started to close the door.
“No, it’s fine. I just wanted to grab a sweatshirt.”
She opened the door again and stepped out. His gaze raked up and down her barely covered form. She swallowed hard and wrapped her arms around herself.
“My… uh… underwear is in the top drawer.”
“Huh? Oh, yeah.” He opened the drawer and pulled out a white lacy thong with the tags still attached. “I uh… I mean… these are uhm… nice.”
Her cheeks heated as he crossed the room and held it out. Her fingers slid over his while taking it from him. He ran his thumb over her knuckles and tingles shot up her arm. Warmth spread inside her and he took a step forward. She backed up and hit the wall.
His fingers still cradled hers and she swallowed hard. He stopped inches from her; his body radiating so much heat, she wondered why he needed a sweatshirt.
His hand ran up her bare arm raising goosebumps on her skin. She stared at his hard chest, unable to move. Fear trickled down her spine. It’d been a long time since she’d let anyone touch her. Sure she let friends hug her, but that was all. Alarm bells rung out in her head and she fought a sudden wave of nausea. This was Griffin. Her Griffin. Images flashed into her mind but she locked them away.
He leaned in and smelled her hair. A rumble escaped his chest that made her knees go weak.
“Dakota.” His soft, gentle voice caressed her entire body like warm lotion.
He pushed her chin up, making her look at him. Her heart pounded like a drum circle beat at the yearly Pow Wow. She was okay. She was in charge. She could stop any time she wanted to.
A tear leaked from the corner of her eye and he brushed it away with his knuckles. He loomed closer, his lips mere inches away. The fragrance of his skin, so familiar it was like it was a piece of her. She wanted to feel his lips on hers. To feel his weight on top of her.
No. They couldn’t. If they went there again, she would lose all control and everything she’d fought to become over the past year.
“Griffin. We shouldn’t.”
His lips danced softly over hers. Tingles lit up her spine and her wolf howled and then roared to life. A dominant scent rolled off Griffin and she pressed her lips to his, sucking in his warm breath. His taste sent a ripple of need coursing through her. Sensual memories flooded her. The feel of their bodies joined. Making love under the stars the first time before he’d gone to boot camp.
Griffin ran his hand up her leg to her hip and grabbed onto her. His lips parted and he coaxed her tongue with his.
She shouldn’t do this. She shouldn’t.
But her resolve broke and she leaned into him. Every line of his body so familiar it was like going home.
He cupped her face with both hands and she dropped her panties then wrapped her arms around his waist. He kissed her with long languid kisses, just the way she liked them. He placed kisses over her cheek and down her neck, stopping just below her earlobe. She sucked in a sharp breath and grabbed his firm rear. He leaned against her harder, and even through his clothes, she could feel he wanted her.
“Dakota. I’ve missed you so much.”

The idea for my book Sinfully Mine came up when I was actually waiting for my doctor. Watching other patients, wondering why they were there and eyeing cute doctors in their scrubs got me to thinking how cool it would be to date a doctor. J Seriously, authors’ brains work even when they have a fever.

I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with my husband, our two beautiful girls, and Ginger (our wonderful dog). I can’t imagine living anywhere else. My husband and I are both outdoorsy. We love to walk, stare at the mountains, and just go for a drive enjoying the ever changing colors of the trees.

Historical. Hahahah. I know. I don’t write the genre, but hey, it is what I enjoy reading.

I’d say writing stories with bits of my personality embedded in it.

Play the guitar, baby. Or go for a walk with my husband. There is nothing more romantic than walking with your husband anywhere while holding hands. I just love it. Even when we are at home watching T.V. I love holding hands.

As soon as Rob left, Shayne’s shoulders sagged. God, she felt tired. She needed a long hot shower to help ease the tension from her shoulders and maybe get this shooting out of her head even for a few minutes. Not sit and wait. Damn. Those two agents in their tattered looking jeans were just being intimidating to tell her to stay put. Of course, she could move from her spot.
She’d met a good number of agents in the hospital, but these two by far, were the most tiring of them all. And, yeah, very pleasing to the eye.
The tallest one who introduced himself as Agent Ty Cartwright looked in need of a haircut and a shave. He must be over six feet tall, wearing old faded jeans that hung around his hips. His shirt, partially tucked out looked like he slept in it. But boy, oh boy. He sure has that rugged-sexy look going for him. Shayne had a glimpsed of his tattoo by his neck. She wondered what it was. The ink added to his sexiness, but his best asset yet was his most indescribable bluer than blue eyes. Tired looking eyes, but seriously, they were so striking she couldn’t stop staring at them and forget the world. Which had been embarrassing really, because she had to ask him to repeat his question a couple times. Well, it wasn’t her fault. She bet the man knew how entrancing his eyes were, and yet, he stared at her for the longest time. Yes! Their gazes had been locked for so long, she could’ve counted his eyelashes. My word! The man is beautiful. Unfortunately, he had a manner of a barbarian.
Thankfully, he was now on his phone while the other agent named Grady Parks was busy smirking at the photographers and reporters.
Shayne glanced at the agents. Both oozed sexiness and yumminess. How could they not? They both carried guns and badges. However, Agent Cartwright seemed to be in command and had been scowling at her since he stepped foot in her apartment. He was the one who made her want to brush her hair, check if her breath didn’t smell like a day old broccoli, or see if her mascara hadn’t smeared all over her face.
Shayne glanced at him again. God, she must be really sex deprived to be drooling over an agent. Yeah, that was it. How else would she explain this insane feeling of wanting to rub her body all over that hotness? It’d been over a year since she last went out with a guy. A freaking long year! Now, her hormones were jumping all over the place. She gave the agent one more sweeping glance and felt that weird jolt in her chest again—a feeling most familiar among teenagers when they see their crushes. She rolled her eyes.
Well, it as this agent’s fault. Damn it, why did he have to wear those low rider jeans with tattered hems? They only made him look delicious.
Okay, now she was hungry for food and for this man. God, she needed to do something. Food. Yeah, she would have to find some. For sure, it would be okay with them if she went into her kitchen. It wasn’t like she would be leaving the apartment anyway.
Shayne stood up.
Agent ‘Sexy’ Cartwright glanced at her for a mere second and then went back to talking on his phone.
Sheez, here she was having heart palpitations over this agent and he couldn’t even look at her without glowering. Damn it. She shouldn’t even think about him. Instead, she needed to focus on the current issue. Like how in the world would she replace the cello. Buying a new one would probably cost her entire savings. Yeah, she’d been a doctor for two years, but that was just it. Only two years. And she had a fat loan to pay. So, buying a new one-of-a-kind cello would probably reduce her to becoming a homeless doctor. Lord, she would probably have to eat pancakes every day until she resembled a Pillsbury doughboy.
