Hostage Hearts by Rose Wulf

Hello and thank you for having me today!
I’m super excited to talk to you about my latest release, Hostage Hearts! This one is a contemporary romance standalone, and a short story as a part of Evernight Publishing’s popular Romance on the Go line!
Blurb:
Ace Bufford’s day just went from bad to worse.
All he’d set out to do was a favor for a friend, and he’d somehow found himself barging into a random apartment with a gun in his hand. Except the sole inhabitant wasn’t a stranger; she was Lydia Caldwell. The one that got away.
She wasn’t supposed to want the man who’d pointed a gun at her. But she did. Ace had grown up in all the right ways – well, except for the gun thing. Without knowing how, Lydia suddenly found herself having to decide whether or not to embrace her unexpected attraction. And together they had to find a way to get Ace out of the mess he’d landed in, or their time together would end as abruptly as it had before….
Excerpt:
“Why are you breaking into my apartment and pointing a gun at me after fifteen years?”
Ace released a long breath, slid the duffel from his shoulder, and took a seat on the opposite arm of the couch. “I can’t explain that,” he said as if she’d accept that line. “But for what it’s worth, I’m sorry.”
“Sorry?” she repeated incredulously. She shot to her feet, her adrenaline spiking in equal measure with her temper. “For which part, Ace? For dumping me so you could join the Army? For never returning my letters? For taking my virginity in the dirt behind the bleachers, or for not even giving me an orgasm to show for it? Or are you sorry for taking me hostage with no explanation?”
She thought for a moment she saw him cringe, but then it was gone and the hardened intruder he’d been when he’d bullied his way into her home returned. “Sit down, Lydia,” he said.
“Why? Why does it matter if I sit?”
Releasing a breath, Ace stood and lifted the gun. “Sit. Down.”
Her fury left her in a rush, leaving her feeling deflated and on the brink of tears. But Lydia swallowed that and reclaimed her seat with a grumbled, “Guess it’s not the hostage part, then.”
Running a hand through his hair, Ace replied, “I’m not that clumsy idiot boy you remember, okay? I’ve changed.”
Refusing to look at his eyes again, Lydia said, “Obviously. That boy at least pretended to care about me. He’d never have pointed a gun in my face.”
A soft thump drew her attention and Lydia glimpsed the discarded gun sitting on the farthest sofa cushion a moment before Ace hauled her up by the shoulders and crashed his lips over hers. He slid his tongue into her mouth remorselessly, burying one hand in her loose black hair as the other settled over her hip. He kissed her hard, bruising her lips and stroking his tongue over hers in a wicked rhythm. And, lord help her, she liked it.

About Rose:
Rose Wulf is a giant romance fangirl. Hot, protective, sometimes even downright barbaric heroes and spitfire heroines are her favorites. Rose has been writing for as long as she can remember, and over the years she’s only grown fonder of it. The bonds between characters have always captivated her, and as an author those are Rose’s favorite things to play with – not always to the relief of her fictional babies!
Behind the scenes Rose is a quiet personality. She enjoys spending her non-writing time with her four year-old German Shepherd, Shadow, her mom, and her friends. Be it a fun game of Cards Against Humanity or a relaxing movie night, Rose believes everything is better with company. As for her own romance, she’s still searching for her hero (and hoping that, when she does find him, he’ll be willing to cook!).

Donner and Prancer

Thank you so much for having me. I hope you enjoy this little snippet of my new holiday release, Donner and Prancer … available now from Evernight Publishing’s Romance on the Go line, just in time for the holidays!

Noah Donner had it all. Good looks, great job, and a kick-ass gift. As a special breed of shifter, every Christmas Eve he assisted Santa as one of his famous reindeer. A lover of all women, he’s the quintessential playboy. But all that changed within weeks of Christmas, when he found himself drawn to another reindeer shifter, Mira Prancer.
Not exactly sleek reindeer material, full-figured Mira took pride in her gift as a shifter, while not nearly as confident about herself when in human form. Usually a timid wallflower, Mira is surprised to learn she’s Noah’s latest target, and after a drunken night of unexpected passion, they find themselves in a quandary.
Neither can deny the attraction, but Mira will need more than words to trust the sexy Casanova.
Can the two love-struck shifters play nice? Or will this little Reindeer Game require a little Christmas magic?

Adult Excerpt:

Noah nudged her against the door, closing it behind them.
Mira gasped. His smoldering expression turned her stomach upside down, and heat pooled between her legs. Had he cast a spell, stealing away her ability to escape? Her skin tingled at the thought of giving in to his silent intent.
Noah’s hands found her midsection and needy eyes drank her in as though she were a mug of hot, buttered rum on a cold winter’s night.
I’ve totally lost my mind. “Is this really happening?” Did I say that aloud?
Noah’s eyes gleamed and a mischievous grin spread across his face. “Oh, it’s happening.” He slowly leaned in, and his lips grazed hers, immediately followed by his tongue. Warm swipes plunged deeper with each pass, triggering moisture that dampened her panties.
Mira’s knees buckled and Noah scooped her up into his arms and carried her to the sofa as though she weighed next to nothing.
His kisses grew more passionate. Deeper. Hungrier.
Mira could hardly catch her breath. This was crazy. Insane. “Get the fuck out!”
Noah stopped. A look of confusion and shock flashed in his eyes. “What?”
Mira laughed, covering her mouth as heat rushed to her cheeks. “I’m sorry. That sort of slips out whenever I’m surprised.”
Noah’s brow pinched. “You’re surprised?”
She bit back another laugh and went with an enthusiastic nod instead.
“Why?”
Mira’s head spun and she strained to sit upright. How could she explain this? “Men like you don’t come home with women like me, Noah.”
He shook his head. “Why?”
He sounded like a broken record now.
“Be-because,” she said stammering through her reply. “Look at you.”
Noah rose and stood by the sofa, gazing down at her. “What about me?”
“Uh … well, you’re built like a Greek god and you have a reputation as a …” She searched for the correct words—words that held a little more delicacy than man-whore. “Ladies’ man?”
“Humph.” He rested his hands on his hips. “Ladies’ man, huh?”
“I was being polite.” Mira squirmed.
Noah’s eyebrows arched high. “Is that so?” He folded his arms across his chest. “Why don’t you tell me how you really feel, Mira?”
Bile shot up in the back of her throat as her nervous demeanor morphed into one a little more hostile. “How I really feel?” Dozens of irritating things about the man came to mind. Everything from his obnoxious, too-loud laugh, to the ugly reindeer sweater he wore, to the Christmas party every friggin’ year. “Well … for starters, you brag about your conquests entirely too much.” She’d keep her comments limited to the facts rather than opinions. “You treat women like trophies and well … you seem to have a serious problem with my ass.” The last part flew out of her mouth so fast she had no time to reel it back in.

A Red Dress for Christmas

Title: A Red Dress For Christmas

Angel in a red dress…

Cecily's husband Neil has kept her waiting one too many times. After another lonely night of movie watching, she decides to take her pleasure into her own hands. Neil comes home from work and catches her being a very naughty girl. Tangled up in tinsel and wearing a smoking hot red dress, surely her holiday wish will come true.

Excerpt:
“Why did you have to leave?”
Neil rubbed his hand along Cecily's ass, his finger edging between her skin and the lacy red panties from behind.
“Why do you think?”
Neil's cock pressed against Cecily's side. His fingers continued their distracting path even as he upped the pulses on the vibrator.
“How do you like that?” he whispered, voice husky. He untied the strings on the panties, giving him greater access to her slick folds.
“Oh. My. God!” Cecily moaned into his thigh as he slid two fingers inside of her at the same time as he cranked up the power on the tiny vibrator to what felt like its highest capacity.
Neil pumped his thick fingers into her pussy relentlessly, taking Cecily close to the edge and pulling back out again. He turned off the vibe, leaving her staring down at the carpet, completely bereft.
“But… Oh, Neil!” Cecily wriggled against his lap, her erect clit pulsing between her legs and her molten core longing for release.
Neil smoothed her hair from her face and wiped a tear that slid from her eye.
“That's how I felt looking at those pictures. I wanted to bury my cock inside of you and I couldn't. I haven't seen you much at all with this new job, let alone been able to do anything about the raging lust giving me a boner big enough to buy out the vibrator counter just so I'd have a bag big enough to walk out of the store without disgracing myself.”
“I'll make it up to you.” Cecily started to move, but Neil stilled her.
“Wait. I have an idea.” Neil kissed her on the top of her head. “Come on. Let's go in the living room.” He helped her up and eased off the bed and onto his feet. The walk to the living room was quick, Neil shutting off the lights as he went.
“I want to take you here. Right in front of the tree.”
Cecily grinned, desire raging through her veins. “What about Lulu?”
“Look, she's on the chair asleep.”
“Mmmm.” Cecily turned her gaze to the twinkling holiday lights and knelt down on the carpet.
Neil slid behind her and she heard the sound of a zipper.
“I can't wait.”
“Neither can I. Take me.”
The tip of Neil's cock teased her entrance. Suddenly he was in, thrusting balls deep. With a groan, he slid his hands down her sides. With one hand he grasped her hip, the other her clit.
“If you don't fuck me now I'm going to die,” Cecily whispered, grinding herself against the root of him. “I need you.”

A lot of people ask me why I do short fiction. It's a fun escape into another world and it lasts long enough to break the cycle of everyday but still feel like you've read something fun and worthwhile. The Romance on the Go line is exactly that. Tight stories that explore erotic romance with flair and in this case, some tinsel and a whole lot of naughty.

Happy reading and I hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday season.

Release Day Blitz-The Science of Lust by Erzabet Bishop

Blurb:
One more carrot and someone is going to die.

When Grace Benedict takes a new job at an all-night lab, she knows it’s going to be a different kind of gig. What kind of lab is in the same building as a bondage club anyway? Sporting her new pencil skirt and heels, she’s raring to go otherwise its move back into her parents’ basement and that is so not going to happen. What she didn’t count on were the vampires.

Publisher: Evernight Publishing
Pages: 29
Heat: Erotic romance m/f with some f/f elements
Genre: Paranormal romance/BBW/vampires

Excerpt:

“Where is this magic water?” Grace crossed her arms and raised her eyebrow, giving him a provocative look. “Better yet, let’s see it actually in practice. Work your fang boy mojo on me.” Grace wiggled her fingers and made a mocking Dracula cape motion. “Come on. I’ll be your devil’s advocate.”
“Are you sure about this? We had primarily wanted you as a liaison between the patients and the vampires. Someone to monitor their progress. We never intended you to be a participant, Grace.” He backed toward the counter and produced a small bottle of water that he handed over to her.
She snatched it out of his hands and stared at it. Just a nondescript 6oz. bottle of water. Inconspicuous label. No real markings. Interesting.
“You may want to sit while it takes effect.”
Grace rolled her eyes, unscrewed the cap and gulped it down. She had been thirstier than she thought and was eager to prove this was no more than a bunch of scientists playing on people’s insecurities. Fangs or not.
“Please sit, Grace. The chemicals tend to hit rather quickly.” He pushed her toward the stool and caught her as she began to weave on her feet.
“Hey. You drugged me!” Her head was muzzy. Her body began to heat up in some very interesting places. Her breasts felt heavy, the nipples hardening as the fabric of her bra rubbed against them. The endorphins flooded into her and her body began to pulse.
 Oh wow.
Waves of desire cascaded over her senses. As she watched the good doctor talking, all she could do was imagine what it would be like to unzip that tight pair of jeans and have at it. She closed her eyes at the mental image and shivered. The doctor was fucking hot.

Succubus Games: The Review and Guest Post

Willow has had centuries in Sisyphus Prison to reinforce the hard-learned lesson that the jealous and capricious Greek gods are not to be trifled with. There are only two ways out, and both require Willow to compete in the annual gladiator match. The winner is freed while the loser marches straight to Tartarus to become one of Hades’ concubines. Willow plans to press all her succubus charms into service to gain the upper hand against her opponent…until she discovers who he is.

Helveticus is a demi-god with a devilish plan of his own to win his freedom, a plan that begins with the seduction of his lush adversary. He is the last person Willow wishes to battle because she’s not sure whether she wants to kill him or kiss him. Only one can be crowned the victor. Who will win the war of body over heart?

Caught in the Underworld and wanting a way out, what's a succubus to do?

Willow has been chosen to play gladiator in a fight for her freedom. The only problem is her competion is the man she slept with last night. Part incubus, he is immune to her charms and super hot to boot. This fight is going to be one hot love match. Only the best one will win.

Oh, I loved this story! Succubi are such fun paranormals to write about and Lila Shaw has them down pat! I love the playfulness she uses to craft her characters and this story has some really fun ones. I could not put it down! Hot, fun, immortal...well, what else would you do to pass the time?

5/5 For kick ass succubus hotness!

"I'm With the Gods"

Greek (and Roman) mythology and I have an old romance that began in my childhood. Thanks to some seasoning on my part and an inclination to write spicy stories, I've rekindled that love. Other authors, too, have drawn upon the myths--Rick Riordan, Aimee Carter, Jennifer Armentrout and P.C. Cast are a few who of the more famous ones who come to mind (though I'm betraying my fondness for YA books here).

What makes them so fascinating?

While I can't speak for others, I always liked how human they behaved despite being gods. They were murderers, rapists, adulterers, thieves, liars and cheats and weren't the least bit bothered by a little incest. Human motivators of power, greed, revenge, pride, jealousy often took center stage. Seriously, the daytime soaps had nothing on these beings.

They weren't all naughty. They could also embody love, faithfulness, sacrifice and courage. Interestingly, the demi-gods often fared better from a PR standpoint than the gods who created them. The myths of heroism by Hercules, Theseus, Perseus, and Odysseus come to mind. Everybody loves an underdog, even the Greeks, but especially the ones with mortal blood in their veins.

Titillating and exciting stories about relatable archetypes is the key to their popularity. The gods are some of the earliest paranormal and urban fantasy stars. Everyone is familiar with their natures and dominions so minimal back-story is needed to explain their powers and histories. Simply plop Poseidon into the tale and we know he's going to whip out some oceanic powers. Inclusion of the Greek gods not only makes deux ex machina convenient, it's practically a requirement.

Unlike the ancient Greeks, I do not treat the gods with any reverence; I enjoy making fun of them. In my book Succubus Games, Tyche, goddess of fortune is unlucky in love. Aphrodite, goddess of love, plays a dumb bunny who is shrewder than people give her credit for. And of course we have our hero, Helveticus (named for one of the fonts in my Word program), a demi-god similar to Hercules. Casting a non-Greek critter such as a succubus as the sympathetic but lusty heroine only adds to the motley character fun.

I hope you'll consider taking a playful romp through Purgatory with my characters and those I "borrowed" from the Greeks.
