Breathless Monday: Sins of an Angel

Welcome back to Breathless Monday! Today we talk with Ishabelle Torry about her new book and dish a little about tacos.

1.       How did you start writing erotic romance?
By accident, really. As I aged, my stories became more mature, and erotic just happened as my characters saw fit. Truthfully, I didn’t even realize I had written erotic romance until I began to look for places to submit my first book!

2.       Plotter or pantster?
Definite panster. I start with a main idea and let it fly! Rarely do I know anything more than the first few pages when I began a book.
3.       What are three things you have on your writing desk?
A mess, a pile of books, and several empty cans of Diet Sunkist…guess I should clean that up tonight…
4.       Favorite food?
Tacos. Everyone loves tacos! MMMM did I mention tacos?
5.       Tell us a little about your new release. What character in the book really spoke to you?
My latest release follows the Seven Deadly Sins, an innocent angel exposed to mortality, and one determined Lucifer!
I would definitely have to say it was my heroine, Nayla, which spoke to me the loudest. I believe it's because she's loosely based off of a person I hold very dear to my heart…my daughter.
6.       I write because ____...
If I didn’t, I would explode! My imagination has always run rampant, and putting it on paper keeps the voices at bay…most of the time!
7.       What is your favorite type of character to write about?
I absolutely love writing about the villain…the ick factor…the stinky cheese of the story. I find the villain often represents that tidbit of a dark side the author possess (like every human).
8.       What is the sexiest scene you ever wrote?
Ohhh no spoiler alerts for you! But I believe the sexiest scene to date can be found within my new release Sins of an Angel…curious now?

9.       What advice would you give new authors in the erotica/romance field?
Oh lawdy! Lady Gaga comes to mind…"Just dance…" Or in this case "Just write…"

10.   What is next on your writerly horizon?
I am delving into the realm of Sci-Fi of Armageddon proportions! *snicker* *hint hint*

Author bio:
At the age of fourteen, Ishabelle Torry stole her first romance novel, Warrior's Lady by Madeline Baker, from her mother's glass "no-no" cabinet. It was then Ishabelle fell in love with the idea of new worlds, love conquers all, and the ability to forget the real world as she took on the lives of characters that were just as real as the people she interacted with every day. It wasn't long before her fixation with romance novels landed her in the high school office to collect the books confiscated during the previous week. Ishabelle swore one day she'd write the kind of book that would keep readers so enthralled, they'd too risk confiscation to keep turning the pages!

Blurb:
Seven Deadly Sins... One tempted angel...
As an Angel of Mercy, Nayla's duty is to collect the souls of the mortals who've given up on life and return them to the Guff for rebirth. But her loyalty to duty is challenged when she's sent to destroy the essence of Grant Farris. Calling upon the Archangel Michael, she begs for leniency. After all, how can one be happy when all one has known is pain?
Grant has no idea that his eternal soul is facing total annihilation. As far as he's concerned, this life can go straight to hell...which is exactly what Lucifer intends. But when the angel Nayla interferes and is granted mortality to aid in Grant's redemption, Lucifer realizes an even better opportunity. He could have his very own Angel of Mercy!
Can Nayla save Grant's soul without losing her own to temptation?

Excerpt:
The smell of cinnamon teased Nayla's nose. She licked her lips. "I didn't see it set out earlier. Perhaps just a small bite then?"
The server scooped a chunk onto her plate with a smile. "Bon appetite." She winked.
Nayla plopped down into her seat across from Grant and anxiously dipped her spoon into the steaming apple dessert. She closed her eyes as the warmth of the fruit and spices melted on her palate. She scooped a bigger piece up and shoved it into her watering mouth, licking the spoon clean.
"Is that good?" Grant sniggered. "You seem to be enjoying it"—his gaze dropped to the newly clean utensil still pressed to her lips—"a lot."
Heat spread across her cheeks and down her neck. "I must confess, this is the most delicious thing I can recall ever eating. What is it named again?"
"Apple pie. A good ol' American favorite."
"Oh. I love it! Do you like to eat pie?"
Grant grunted, his dark eyes darting back to his own plate with a grin. "Oh man, do I love...pie."
She scraped up another bite. Excited over sharing something in common, she held her spoon out across the table. "I insist you eat a piece of my pie then! It is marvelous."
Grant's fork clattered to the table. He sat back, running a hand through his tousled hair. "I think I'm going to skip dessert today."
Nayla leaned over the table, swaying the apple pie before him. "Just one bite...one lick? I dare say you won't regret it." Her Slavic accent rolled the "r" in regret.
His mouth clamped down on the spoon, pulling it away from her hand. He swallowed the bite without really chewing, tossing the silverware on his plate. "Eat the muffin, Nayla. We have to leave soon."

Breathless Tuesday: To Have or To Haunt

Today we have special guest Ishabelle Torry and her spooky tale of Halloween love and remembrances of things past...

1.       How did you start writing erotic romance?

Quite by accident, really. I knew I wanted to write romance, but as I got older I gained more…experience, which helped me write more realistic stories. I truly believe that sex is an integral part of a relationship.
2.       Plotter or pantster?

Definite panster with an idea.
3.       What are three things you have on your writing desk?
Diet Coke. Paperwork. My bra. Yes, my bra! LOL

4.       Favorite food?

Tacos…anything Mexican really.

5.       Tell us a little about your new release. What character in the book really spoke to you?

Ohh, well…To Have or to Haunt is my first f/f piece. The idea came to me when my publisher announced a call for Haunted Halloween submissions. I immediately pictured a haunted mansion, and Leah was the first character to whisper to me by laying claim to Crowe Mansion…she then haunted me until I told her tale!

6.       I write because ____...

I write because if I don't I will explode!

7.       What is your favorite type of character to write about?

Ahh, yes…the favorite character. We all have one. I tend to fall in love with my side characters. You know, that flashy, snarky, and often obnoxious sidekick. With that said, wait until you meet Ally, from To Have and to Haunt!

8.       What is the sexiest scene you ever wrote?

*winks* I'm still writing it.
9. What advice would you give new authors in the erotica/romance field?
Keep writing. Write what makes you comfortable. And definitely write the heat level that fits your characters.

10. What is next on your writerly horizon?
I am currently working on the first book of a series of Armageddon proportions!

Other titles by Ishabelle Torry include: The Gift, King of Hearts, To Wish Upon a Roman, and Sins of an Angel. (Coming soon)

Current projects include a full length novel series of Armageddon proportions—not like anything you've ever read before!

Blurb-
Melanie Fyre is a passionate teacher determined to raise funds for the town's school. What better way to do it than by expanding the local businesses? All she needs is land. Untouched for years thanks to a local superstition, the Crowe property is perfect. If Melanie can debunk the myth, she can get the use of those 600 beautiful acres. She just has to prove to the town that Leah's ghost is not haunting the mansion, even on Samhain night.

Burned to death and proclaimed a witch, Leah Crowe's soul has been cursed to an eternity of loneliness, all because she dared to love a woman. When the saucy Melanie arrives at her home to throw a costume party that mocks Leah's very existence, the bitter ghost resolves to renew the town's fear of her name. Will Leah's ghost ruin all of Melanie's plans?

Book excerpt-.
That voice…Melanie's head snapped left, then right. "Leah?"  On either side stood groups of people, but no one she didn't recognize immediately—even through the plethora of costumes. She turned in a circle, searching for the face the voice belonged to. "You know it's not nice to stalk people."
"I was thinking much the same in regards to someone inviting themselves into my home."
Melanie jumped. It sounded as if Leah were speaking directly into her ear. "Your home? As in Leah Crowe's home?" She laughed so hard she snorted. "So that's what you were doing in the room upstairs…haunting me?"
Once again, Leah's voice sounded near. "No. I had only intended to ask that you leave and take your party elsewhere. I will haunt you if you fail to comply."
Melanie crossed her arms and chuckled. Someone was definitely pranking her.
Circled by a group of men paying homage to her costume, Ally randomly waved from across the room, raising a glass of beer. Melanie smirked. So busted! This scenario had her best friend's name written all over it. She nodded, licking her lips. "Bring it on, ghost chick. This party needs some entertainment anyway."
Review:
This story was a whole lot of fun and I enjoyed the read. Just the right amount of spooky and sexy fun. If you are looking for a quick read for this season of haunting delights you can't go wrong with To Have or To Haunt.

Breathless Monday: The Gift

1.       How did you start writing erotic romance?
Because all I think of is sex! Just kidding…kinda. In all seriousness though, it was kinda on accident. I always wrote romance, but as I got older the spice just drifted in.
2.       Plotter or pantster?
A little bit of both…at least in the start. After I get going, it's all fair game from there!
3.       What are three things you have on your writing desk?

I'll tell you what I don't have on my desk. Space.
4.       Favorite food?

Tacos. With a bunch of sour cream! MMMMM
5.       Tell us a little about your new release. What character in the book really spoke to you?

The Gift features a married couple celebrating their tenth anniversary. Sheryl, my heroine decides to have a naked painting commissioned, wanting to give Daniel something other than a tie or shirt. But regret sets in, and she makes a mad effort to hide the sporadic gift from her husband.
It would definitely have to be Sheryl that spoke the loudest. Why? I think she and I are a lot alike! *still wearing my clothes…atm*
6.       I write because ____...
I was cursed…with an imagination that threatens to explode my head if I don't get it on paper!
7.       What is your favorite type of character to write about?

I actually enjoy the side characters, or supporting cast. Sometimes they are the ones that get to have all the fun.
8.       What is the sexiest scene you ever wrote?
I have to say this entire Flirt is the sexiest thing I have written to date…curious yet?
9.       What advice would you give new authors in the erotica/romance field?
Do what feels natural.
10.   What is next on your writerly horizon?

A series! I am seriously contemplating getting one going.

Blurb:

It's Sheryl and Daniel's tenth anniversary, and Sheryl is compelled to get her beloved soul mate the gift of all gifts. Discarding her normally self-reserved persona, she has a nude portrait commissioned. He was bound to love it…wasn’t he?

Excerpt:
My chest tightened, and I had to take slow, calming breaths to steady my quivering limbs as I maintained eye contact. I had waited years for this moment; defeating modesty with a blatant desire to shed the snow from its covered mountain peak. I prayed I wouldn't pass out before the overdue climax reached fruition.
His tongue darted out and he licked the corners of his mouth hungrily, squinting in concentration. "One more touch," he promised with a whisper. He then threw his head back and bellowed. "Finished!"
I pulled the sheets over my nudity, suddenly embarrassed. My clammy palms smeared the soft fabric with wet streaks as I wrung the material between shaky fingers. I waited for him to speak—to say anything. With pursed lips, he occasionally produced a clicking sound as his tongue bounced off of his front teeth.
I willed his words to come. But silence was the one thing I found to be the most charming of his many qualities. Without words, he couldn't criticize me...or my newest fetish. My endeavor was safe with this almost mime.
He grunted loudly and twisted his body back and forth. A long stretch pulled him to his tiptoes as his head fell back to blow kisses at the popcorn ceiling. He lowered his gaze slowly and devoured my form from crown to toe, like a lion inspecting his prey. The deep blue of his eyes hid his thoughts, just as the ocean concealed buried treasure.
The review:
This short was hot and steamy and when I started it I totally had to go back and figure out just what the scene was I had just read. Wow! When Sheryl sets out to get Daniel something for their anniversary she is nervous about her gift. Her concern proves unjustified as Daniel shows her just what he thinks of his sexy wife all these years later. This was a great little romp and I loved it!
4.5/5

King of Hearts and Happy Birthday Breathless Press

1.       How did you start writing erotic romance?

Kind of accidentally, really. I never intended to, but some stories just happened that way.
2.       Plotter or pantster?

A little bit of both. I started out as a plotter, but it never worked out the way I envisioned it in the beginning. So now I start with a cheap outline and panster it from there!
3.       What are three things you have on your writing desk?

A mess, a bigger mess, and season 5 of Stargate Sg1.
4.       Favorite food?
I've been on a Mexican kick lately…mmm fajitas!

5.       Tell us a little about your new release. What character in the book really spoke to you?
That would definitely be Alicia, the heroine. I suppose her being a detective makes her very talkative and inquisitive. She's pretty curious about everything.
6.       I write because ____...

I have to! If I didn’t, I would explode. KABOOM
7.       What is your favorite type of character to write about?

I love those snarky secondary characters…you know the ones that ALWAYS have to add their input. I think it's because sometimes they get to say and do the things I only wish I had the guts to do.
8.       What is the sexiest scene you ever wrote?

Ohh tough one! I believe it would have to be one I have hidden away in a WIP…so ya'll are just going to have to wait! hehe
9.       What advice would you give new authors in the erotica/romance field?

To not force it…and by it I mean the sex. Sometimes a story can be told without the heavy sexual acts themselves. Sometimes sweeter is better.
10.   What is next on your writerly horizon?

I am currently working on a full length novel. I can't tell you what it is, of course. *grins* Want a hint? Armageddon is not what you expected!

About the author:
Among many normal things, such a mother, student, farmer, and author, Ishabelle Torry is a woman tormented by the voices in her head. Don't worry though! It's merely the loud, and sometimes obnoxious, whispers of many characters begging for their stories to be told. In fact, Ishabelle has started a ticket line, and everyone (okay most everyone) is happy as they bide their time.

Blurb:

Detective Alicia Burrow is following the only clue she has to finding the missing Kevin Carroll. Only one more stop…only one more portal?
Alicia Burrow's is a detective on the case of Kevin Carroll, a missing man for twenty years whose blood has been discovered in alarming amounts in an alley. She's not surprised the only lead she has turns out to be a dead end. Or is it?
The rambling of the victim's Dementia riddled aunt holds more truth than Alicia could ever imagine as she discovers a portal to the Land of Wonder—and the arms of the King of Hearts.

Book excerpt:

His footsteps clacked on the marble tiles of the room. I tensed as he neared. A firm grip yanked my arm and whirled me around. Face to face, I glowered as did he in return. Yet, despite his attempt to appear irritated, a slight grin tugged at the corner of his mouth.
Using the tip of his forefinger, he traced the contour of my lips. "If I wanted to play with you, Alicia, it would be far different than this. And I definitely would not have given you clothing."
I jerked my arm loose, determined to ignore the weakness in my legs when his warm breath caressed my face. "The game is done, Kevin. I'm going home to report you alive and loony."
"No you won't," he challenged.
I harrumphed. "Watch me."

To Wish Upon A Roman

When Lucy received the locket from the estate of her aunt, it came with a warning to never speak his name...but where's the fun in that?

Trapped for seventeen hundred years, General Hadrian Marias awaits his release from a crystal prison and a chance to find the reincarnated soul of his wife, Lucia. Instead, upon being summoned into the modern world, he finds Lucy—the descendant of Genevieve, the Celtic witch responsible for his entrapment. Everything he knows about Lucy stems from his experience with Genevieve, but he soon discovers the only thing Lucy shares with her ancient ancestor is an uncanny resemblance. He quickly finds himself drawn to the feisty vixen. But can he ever forgive himself for losing Lucia of the past, and move forward with Lucy?
Lucy Brady was devastated to receive word of her aunt's death. Her only joy, a family heirloom passed down from generation to generation. Inside the golden locket hides a crystal containing the essence of Hadrian. Even though warned to never say his name, she chalks it up to superstition and inadvertently summons an ancient Roman general who demands his freedom from her tyrannical bloodline. Deeming the general's appearance a prank, Lucy agrees to grant his freedom—in lieu of sex for a fortnight. Will the next fortnight of passion be enough to keep Hadrian at Lucy's side? Or will he choose absolute freedom from her bloodline?

1.       How did you start writing erotic romance?

I'm not really sure, to tell you the truth. I wanted to write romance, and that was always clear. However, the erotic part just kind of happened as I got older.

2.       Plotter or pantster?

A little bit of both.

3.       What are three things you have on your writing desk?
Diet Sunkist, notebook and pen to write down character information as it comes, and a freaking mess!
4.       Favorite food?

Tacos with lots of sour cream and tomatoes.

5.       Tell us a little about your new release. What character in the book really spoke to you?

Umm, it's awesome! Seriously though, it's awesome and humorous. How could you not love an ancient Roman who enjoys Dr. Pepper and the Three Stooges? As for characters that spoke to me, I'd have to say they all spoke to me! But it was actually a side character that yelled the loudest—Karina. She's a hoot, and not afraid to say what's on her mind!

6.       I write because ____...

The voices tell me to…*giggle*

7.       What is your favorite type of character to write about?

Snarky, sarcastic, and sometimes mean, but always does the right thing in the end. There's nothing more satisfying than bringing a character to life who has the ability to say and do the things you wished you could in real life!

8.       What is the sexiest scene you ever wrote?

One that hasn’t been published yet *blushing*

9.       What advice would you give new authors in the erotica/romance field?

The best advice I can offer is to write what you want to write, and be comfortable with the heat level. One of my biggest fears when I first started was being able to write love scenes that were believable, yet hot. "wink wink* Practice makes perfect, if ya know what I mean.

10.   What is next on your writerly horizon?

It's a surprise, but it involves a series!

Excerpt:

Hadrian was infatuated by the witch's sudden change. Her demeanor had gone from a scared rabbit to a cunning wolf as she slowly advanced in his direction. She looked ready to pounce.
Damn the gods.
He shook his head in frustration, swearing at his lack-wit brain. He assumed the dark woman with the strange clothing and heavy face paint had been Genevieve's kin, but instead the innocent angel before him was the vile sorceress's descendant. How could he have missed it? She even had the same violet pigment as Genevieve. He now knew for certain this pale beauty was his newest captor. "Release me."
"You never answered me," she purred prettily, taking slow deliberate steps toward him and emphasizing the sway of her hips.
Hadrian grunted. The witch recognized her powers already. She was another generation warned in advance; already knowing he couldn't harm her physically as long as she controlled him.
Damn her smugness! He took a step back with each forward step she took. "Stay back, witch."
He didn't mean it. He felt himself harden with her approach. He hated her. Nay, he didn't, but he should. Something about her perplexed him. She has her ancestor's looks. Genevieve. His last step back was blocked by the loveseat. He thought to sidestep the smiling vixen, but a squared table blocked his path.
Curse her and her second sight! She has me purposely trapped!
The witch appeared to enjoy his uneasiness as she played cat and mouse. She obviously delighted in being the predator, moving in just the right way to keep him cornered. Her siren voice with its otherworldly quality beckoned him as she spoke. Aye, she was just as much the devil's mistress as Genevieve.
"I ask you one more time, Hadrian Marias: Why should I release you?"
His pulse pounded in his ears. "It would be the honorable thing to do, milady. Seeing your family has held me prisoner for almost two millennia."
"I see." She dared to wink. "What's in it for me?"
His paranoia threatened his temper. He felt the sudden need to hide from this enchantress. He would not make the same mistake again and trust a witch. No matter how beautiful she was or innocent she appeared, she was evil. Genevieve's blood ran through her veins. "What do you want?" He finally managed to ask, hoping she didn't hear the apprehension in his tone.
She threw her sultry head back and her laughter floated on the air and teased his defenses.
Devil's Mistress...
She smirked. "In fourteen days, I will release you, but only if you become my sex slave and guarantee my satisfaction."
