Book Description:

Predator and prey...one reluctant mate.

Cody Sanderson wasn't looking for a life on the run, but one mistake has cost him his freedom. If he gets caught, it might cost him his life. The man he hooked up with for a night wasn't a man after all, but a beast intent on owning Cody.

But Cody isn't anyone's to keep. He will evade capture and die before he lets himself be caged by a monster. When he's finally caught, he thinks he's about to be taken to the one man he doesn't want to see ever again. Instead, he's offered protection and a solution that will keep him safe.

The only thing is, he'd have to be mated to one of the very things he feared most—a wolf shifter. Cody's not so sure the risk is worth taking.

Excerpt:

It was happening again. Cody Sanderson fought against the instinct to turn and look behind him. The uncomfortable sensation of being watched made his spine itch. He finished the last of his beer and set the bottle on the grungy table. The bar he’d stopped in at was a few steps below a dive, not the kind of place he’d hung out at in Texas at all. He’d hoped that would throw Ansel off his trail. Maybe it had, and whoever watched Cody had nothing to do with Ansel at all.
Or maybe Ansel had found him. Again.
Cody wiped his mouth and pushed to his feet. The legs of the chair scraped noisily on the uneven floor, timed, much to his displeasure, with a pause in the country music that had been blaring from an ancient-looking jukebox a half dozen feet away. Cody hadn’t been listening to the song—it’d been a background noise to his own chaotic thoughts—and he didn’t know if the song had ended naturally or if someone had stopped the music. Perhaps he was being paranoid, but paranoia was all that had kept him alive thus far.
He kept his head down as he pushed the chair back in, a ridiculous thing to do in a bar like this one. Old habits and ingrained manners made him do it, though, and he felt like it marked him as the outsider he was. It was definitely past time for him to get out of there.
The jukebox didn’t start up again as he made his way toward the exit. Cody’s skin prickled with goosebumps as he walked. The utter lack of conversations made him want to run screaming from the place. He felt like everyone watched him, and if they were, it couldn’t mean anything good for him at all.
He tried to think, to pinpoint if he’d done anything that might have made him a target there. Nothing came to mind. He hadn’t done more than order a beer and a burger, had been careful not to smile or stare anyone in the eyes for longer than necessary. Keeping his gaze averted would have marked him as prey as surely as staring too long would have.
What a crazy, unbelievable world to live in. And he’d had no idea just how crazy and unbelievable until he’d stumbled upon Ansel’s secret. For that bit of stupidity, he’d have to spend the rest of his life on the run, on the lookout.
If he survived tonight. His footsteps seemed abnormally loud as he strode toward the door. The scents of stale beer and cigarette smoke paled against the rancid sweat odor that clung to him. If Cody could smell his own fear, then so could any predators.
He struggled to keep from running, to keep his steps even. Showing fear would be a mistake he might not survive. His palms were slick as he reached for the door handle, but he didn’t lose his grip on it. Cody opened the door, and the crisp, cold air that greeted him chilled him to the bone.
He stepped outside. The sound of the door closing behind him didn’t ease his fears any. Every one of his senses was on alert; Cody had learned to listen to his instincts in the past few months. He held himself still, barely daring to breathe as he waited. When music blared suddenly from inside the bar, Cody bit back a yelp but couldn’t repress his body’s reaction otherwise. He jolted as if he’d been jabbed with a cattle prod, and it broke his reserve, sending him running to his motorcycle.
Stop running.
Cody told himself that over and over again, but he knew he’d never be safe, and he’d only be able to stop running when he was captured by Ansel or dead. Given those two choices, he knew which one he’d prefer.

Review:

Cody and Derrick are a hot couple and I enjoyed reading about their adventure together. The book was well written and I look forward to more by this author, and I hope more from this story universe.

Banewolf Blog Tour and Giveaway

Banewolf
by Eden Ashley

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Paranormal Romance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Love. Conflict. Adventure. Banewolf continues the romance, betrayal, and heartbreaking secrets between Kali, a girl who largely lacks understanding of the powerful creature contained within her, and Rhane, the mysterious and passionate man from her forgotten past.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt Two:
Rhane
The stranger shifted, leaning over until his mouth was within a millimeter of her left ear. He spoke softly, his lips brushing against some serious nerve endings, “Is this seat taken?”
With a nervous shiver, she blinked long and slow, savoring the low and sexy quality of his voice. Then she edged away to put at least an inch between his lips and her ear. If he touched her like that again, Kali was very likely to embarrass herself. Just as she was about to answer his question, the room brightened with light from the illuminated screen. What Kali saw made her jaw drop.
If an eighty-year-old grandmother had been sitting next to her when this guy had shown up, Kali would have politely asked the old lady to move so the stranger could sit down. He was absurdly good looking. Silver lighting accented every perfect line and angle of his face. Several locks from his thick mass of hair fell idly across his forehead, slightly curling at the ends. There was softness to his features that suggested he could be a keeper.
The stranger returned Kali’s stare with an intensity that took in every part of her. But his eyes never left her face.
Realizing she had been staring at him stupidly for far too long, Kali struggled to find something to say. “I’m…” She cleared her throat. “It’s yours.”
He finally looked away. Whatever tied her to him was loosed, and Kali pulled her gaze away. They didn’t speak again for a long time, but Kali was constantly aware of him. She kept stealing furtive glances in his direction because the sight of him was more enthralling than anything the movie had to offer. Growing bolder, Kali watched him from the corner of her eye at increasingly longer intervals. Apparently, the stranger was not as bothered as she was. Relaxed in his seat, he sat observing the screen with languid interest, doing a pretty good job convincing her that he’d forgotten anyone was beside him. Kali was so immersed with watching him, and was completely startled when he spoke.
“It’s not polite to stare,” he murmured softly without taking his eyes from the screen.
Kali jerked and turned away. But she wasn’t fast enough and was mortified to see the beginning of a satisfied smile appear on his face. She slid down into the chair, grateful for the darkness that concealed a blush spreading across her cheeks. From then on she tried to concentrate on the movie. But it was useless. She gave up and watched the screen absently, all the while thinking about the guy sitting next to her and how he probably thought she was an absolute dork. She didn’t get it. Boys never had this affect on her. For the past two years, it had always been them falling helplessly at her feet.
A mutated mix of human and creature launched itself from a quiet scene, growling and snarling into the camera. Several audience members jumped in surprise, and Kali was one of them. She made a noise that sounded like a strangled bird.
“Do these things frighten you?” the stranger asked. He was clearly enjoying her discomfort.
Kali cleared her throat. “Why would they? This stuff isn’t real.” This time, she didn’t look at him.
After a long moment, he spoke again. “Right,” he slowly agreed.
Excerpt:
Elodie Conway was nothing like he had expected. As he ate her signature cake, all Jason wanted to do was savor her lips and run his hands down her very ample hips. Hers was a body a man could hold onto during sex and not break her. His wolf was awakened, and it prowled just beneath the surface. What Jason saw, he liked. Very much indeed…
The chocolate wound through his system, and with each bite, all other preoccupying thoughts faded into nothing. Images of him thrusting deep inside of her and winding his fist in her mane of dark hair flashed in front of his eyes, and he almost choked. His hands trembled as they reached for the bottle of water she’d set in front of him.
What the hell was that?
He twisted the cap and drank the entire small bottle in one go. As a journalist, he had little time for romance. A quick tumble in the moonlight during one of his runs, maybe, but this girl was something special––he didn’t know why he didn’t notice it before. Jason took another bite of cake and shifted his weight as his erection made its presence known. He could take her here, right over the top of the table, her heart-shaped ass in the air as he sank his cock deep in her pussy and fucked her until she screamed his name.
His wolf liked the idea. A whole fucking lot. Jason laid down the fork and smiled. Standing up on shaking legs, he picked up his now empty plate. Things were about to get interesting. This wasn’t just any woman. He raised his nose to the air and scented her.
Mate.
She was his fucking mate. How could he have been so blind? Did it take a hard-on for his wolf to get through to him? Apparently, because his wolf was ready to claim her by any means necessary, even it meant fucking her over the top of one of her own tables.
The Hunter's Moon Tour and Giveaway
The Hunter's Moon (Book 1--Secret Warrior Series)
by Beth Trissel
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

GENRE: YA Fantasy  Romance

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Seventeen year old Morgan Daniel has been in the witness protection program most of her life. But The Panteras have caught up with her and her younger brother. Her car is totaled, she's hurt, and the street gang is closing in when wolves with glowing eyes appear out of nowhere and chase away the killers.
Then a very cute guy who handles a bow like Robin Hood emerges from the woods and takes them to safety at his fortress-like home. And that's just the first sign that Morgan and her brother have entered a hidden world filled with secrets.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Excerpt Two:

Oh, no. Was the wolf hit? Morgan prayed not. She sensed him trying to protect them, and couldn’t imagine why, or why he seemed like ‘her wolf’.

Cries, like the shrieks of a panther, carried through the trees. A chill crawled down her spine. Were the woods filled with creatures she thought long gone from these mountains?

More wolfish snarls erupted and snapping, tearing. Good. He lived. She nudged Jimmy. “Can you see anything?”

He craned his head around the rocks. “Not through the smoke and fog.”

Eerie howls rose from the surrounding woodland on every side. A whole pack must be gathering. Morgan wasn’t certain whether to be frightened, fascinated, or hopeful of rescue. Still light-headed, not sure she even saw clearly, she watched the black wolf reappear; with him, a great white wolf whose green eyes shone like starlight. The most extraordinary yet. Together, the two loped after the brown and gray one. Judging by the high-pitched calls, there were more wolves out there. And panthers, or were they mountain lions?

Snarls, growls, and the shrieks of enraged felines ripped through the smoky shroud. The pack wasn’t after her and Jimmy. Not now, anyway.

Infiltrating Her Pack Release Day!

Infiltrating her Pack
Black Hill Wolves
By Dominique Eastwick

The mysterious and intimidating lone wolf, Z, has returned to Los Lobos. Descended from a long line of gifted yet secretive shifters known as Infiltrators, his people are the spies of the shifting world, rarely seen and harder to track.

Ripley Greystone has a big problem—her pack is Alpha-less and a local coyote band knows it. The safety of her pack rides on trusting Drew, the new Alpha of the Black Hills Wolves. But, admitting the reason for needing his help isn’t something she’s quite ready to do.

Drew senses there’s more to Ripley’s request to join his pack than what she leads him to believe. There’s only one way to know for sure—send an Infiltrator to spy on Ripley and her pack.

Forced to infiltrate her pack to discover its hidden secrets and protect it from the coyotes determined to claim the she-wolves for themselves, Z finds more than he expects—all the while fighting the need to claim Ripley as his mate.

Except
A hairsbreadth divided them, and it took all the willpower he processed to fight the building desire to pull her into his arms. Her breathing quickened, and as he gazed into her blue eyes, her raw sensuality forced him deeper into the cavernous pit he’d fallen in when he’d first seen her.
The words came out on a whisper. “You feel it, too, don’t you?”
“This attraction?” Z raised an eyebrow.
          She closed her eyes. “It won’t work. I have secrets you could never understand.”
“We all have secrets,” he said then gave in to his animal nature and claimed her lips, though touching her nowhere else. He burned himself into her, forcing her to recant her words of denial.
It will work. He didn’t know how, but he didn’t think he could walk away from these feelings again. Having ensured the Greystones posed no threat to the Tao Pack, he could make his top priority the safety of his mate. His second would be to figure out the logistics of having a mate not of his pack.
Her deep groan rumbled through him, and every thought but Ripley faded. Passion swirled and something new, something different…something more, accompanied by a fizz running along his spine and through his nervous system, charging his powers. The urge to howl grew.

The Wolf in the Neighborhood Excerpt
Her eyes now closed, a few moments later she heard the zipper on his jeans slide down and felt him wriggle them down over his backside and hips. She was filled with dread as she realized what was about to happen; her mind tried to escape her body, trapped beneath the man she used to love, as her heart pounded and her hips sunk as far back into the couch as they could. It wasn’t enough, as he used his knees to force hers apart.
Suddenly she heard a bang like a door being slammed open, thudding footsteps and a grunt from James above her as his weight was thrown off her. Krissy opened one eye in a squint, her heart leaping as she saw Derek’s form standing over her, only to feel dread again as she saw on Derek’s face the same look of malice that had crossed James’ face moments earlier. Was she wrong about this man? Had last night been a trick by another ugly soul?
James stood and pulled up his pants, wiping blood from the corner of his mouth and looking ugly in his rage. Krissy lay on the couch between them, frozen from terror, trying to cover herself with the ruins of her tank top; tears poured from her eyes as these two hulks towered above her, glaring each other down like two alpha wolves fighting over the felled deer. All she could hear was heavy breathing from the men and her own panicky breaths competing with her heart pounding in her chest.
A growl emanated from Derek as his mouth curled into a primal snarl, the sight making her heart stop momentarily. She half expected him to sprout facial hair, fangs and a shaggy mane. Krissy blinked to clear her vision; her mind’s eye was projecting her expectations. For a moment there she could have sworn Derek’s teeth had grown and his hair appeared shaggier with grey streaks showing through. When she looked back, she realized her eyes weren’t fooling her; he had indeed sprouted fangs, his hair now a deep grey. Her eyes wide, she barely tore her gaze away to see the reaction on James’ face: sheer terror. She could smell an acrid scent, and a growing darkness drew her eye to his crotch: James had wet himself in fear. Pity constricted her chest. As much of an asshole as James was, she could only imagine what it was like being on the receiving end of this creature’s anger.
Krissy risked a glance back at wolf-Derek, only to find him – it? – looking her over. She had no idea what was lurking behind those eyes and the steely gaze had her in such fear she thought she was going to throw up. As it took a step towards her she tried to crawl inside the couch. A long, clawed finger reached down to her face; she started shaking so hard, she thought she was going to vibrate herself to pieces. The image made her snort laughter in an odd high-pitched gurgle, making the advancing finger hesitate, before it finished its path to her cheek, gently stroking the red area where James had struck her earlier. Concern flickered in Wolf-Derek’s eyes, quickly replaced again by anger as he turned his gaze back on James.

Another growl ripped the silence apart and James whimpered as he backed away. Derek crept to the left towards her head, James moving to his left towards her feet in response, not wanting to get too close to the monster. Slowly they edged around so James had a clear path to the door; he hesitated only a moment, scampering down the hall like a frightened rabbit as Derek took one menacing step directly towards him.

Excerpt 2

She wasn’t sure where Tristan had gone when she exited the bathroom, but she was hungry and wasn’t waiting for him.  Within a few minutes, she quickly found the kitchen and the ever-important coffee machine.  She turned it on, popped in the coffee pod and started opening cabinets looking for mugs.  Setting two cups on the counter, she opened the door to the refrigerator and pulled out creamer then continued looking through the clutter for the eggs.  She felt ravenous, and needed protein.  “Come on, where are you, little eggies?  Tristan has to have eggs.  Everyone has eggs,” she mumbled, talking to herself.
“Tristan does,” he told her with a grin, surprised to find Kalli rummaging around in search of food.  Despite taking a cold shower, he was instantly hard again at the sight of her lovely bare ass which peeked at him from underneath his shirt.  He wanted nothing more in that moment than to take her from behind and slide deep into her warm heat.  The temptation was great, but he restrained his desires.
Kalli jumped at his voice, quickly turning around.  “Hi, um, I was just going to make us something to eat,” she said nervously.
“By all means,” he agreed confidently, walking by her wearing only a towel around his hips.  His erection tented the fabric, and he made no attempt to conceal it.
It was nearly impossible to ignore both the charisma and raw sexuality Tristan exuded.  Slowly, Kalli’s eyes roamed up and down his lean torso, astonished at the audaciousness he exhibited while wearing practically nothing.  His hair, dampened from the shower, fell shaggy over his eyes.  Hardened abs rippled down toward his low slung towel.  Struggling for the words that never came, she couldn’t help her natural reaction, which was to look him over one last time.  Embarrassed, she just knew that he knew that she’d just looked at his groin area, which appeared to be growing.  Oh God.  She rubbed her hand over her eyes and smiled to herself.   What was it about this man? Get it together, Kalli.  Say something.
“Um, okay then, so the eggs.” She opened the refrigerator, careful to hold on to the shirt so it didn’t ride up again.
“Like what you see?” he asked seductively as he set a coffee mug next to her hand, proceeding to wait for the next cup to fill.
“What did you just say?”  Shocked, she grabbed the egg carton and quickly stood up, banging her head.  She turned around holding the package in one hand, rubbing the sore spot on her head with the other.
He set his eyes on hers, taking the eggs and putting them on the ledge.  She backed into the counter as he caged her, pushing her body flush against his.  “I said…Do. You. Like. What. You. See?” he whispered into her ear, accentuating every word.
She sucked a breath as a million pithy responses filled her head.  But the hard bulge pressed against her body and her dangerously hard nipples made it impossible for her to speak coherently.
“Um.” God, she felt like a complete idiot.  Eight years of college and all she had was ‘um’?
“I’ll take that as a yes,” he replied playfully, kissing her ear softly.  He reached over to grab his coffee cup, which made him press against her even harder.
She sucked a breath at the welcome intrusion.  There was a part of her that thought he might kiss her.  Immobilized against his hard torso, he had her exactly where he wanted her, or rather, where she wanted to be.
Instead of kissing her, however, he wrapped his fingers around the clay handle and walked away with a broad smile across his face, without saying another word.  He proceeded to sit down at the island, and switched on his i-Pad, checking his email as he pretended to ignore her.  When Kalli turned around again to make the eggs, he let his eyes drift to her soft supple cheeks that strained to stay covered by his shirt.  The hem teased higher as she bent over slightly to turn on the stove.  Damn, this woman was killing him.
Tristan could not remember the last time he’d slept naked with a woman.  Sure he’d fucked many, but not truly just slept with one.  He’d stayed wolf as long as he could, treasuring her trust, teaching her that he wouldn’t hurt her.  But now that she was healing and walking around his home like she belonged here, he felt the pressure in his chest along with the ache between his legs.
They’d forged a bond last night, and he didn’t want to rush forward and scare her off.  At the same time, he knew she was withholding information.  Something small, perhaps, but it was there.  Bringing his full attention back to his tablet, he tapped out a quick email to Logan asking him to run a full security clearance on one “Kalli Williams”.

Yet, ever since he rescued Samantha Irving, he can't deny the enigmatic attraction he's developed for the alluring mortal woman. Concerned for her safety, he's determined to bring Samantha back to her coven. His mission is to go find the novice witch and bring her home, nothing more, nothing less; falling for her is not supposed to be part of the plan.

Samantha doesn't want to be a witch, yet that's exactly what she is. After failing to elicit her magic, she escapes to the mountains in an attempt to resume a semblance of her previous human life. When an arsonist torches her cabin, Samantha's worst fears are realized. Aware that her life is on the line, she reluctantly agrees to return to New Orleans with Luca.

In the Big Easy, Samantha and Luca embark on a spellbinding journey, searching for a mystical amulet that promises to release her obligation from an ancient, lethal vampire who's been threatening her life. With cryptic clues and clandestine allies, will Luca and Samantha destroy the dangerous amulet before others acquire it, setting forth a chain of catastrophic consequences? And will Luca give into his erotic desire for the witch who magically captures heart?

Luca is a dynamic personality that will show you teasing and tantalizing times that will lead to hypersensitive and delightfully tortuous crescendos of sensation.  He is a delight to envision and dream about.

Samantha is an everyday hard working woman that needs a break from her everyday challenges but she never expects her life to be turned so upside down.  Her life explodes and she discovers that pulling it together has some spectacular turns.  Sex is fun and so interesting to explore and learn more about, and boy does she enjoy.

Review:

The main characters were dynamic and made the story interesting. I love vampires, especially hunky ones like Kade. Sydney has kind of a foul mouth, which I can identify with (being prone to a bit of sailor like cursing myself). The sensuality of the book was also appealing and kept me reading late into the night. Give me a good dominant male character combined with a female lead that doesn't take crap and you will have me hooked in no time at all. Add a vampire and you have a fun and frisky read.

Some of the head hopping in the beginning of the book was a little troublesome. Once things evened out a bit  the story flowed fine, but there were some oddly formal dialog portions that were a little distracting.

This book was fun with the supernatural and voodoo elements and I really enjoyed where the author was going with the story line.

3.5/5
