Teeth gritted, she stepped toward the nearest doorway. Air swirled around her, and a dinging bell echoed. The center doors slid open. Inside a woman dressed in matching jacket and skirt stepped forward. A hand closed over Alyona’s shoulder.
“He’s not here.” Warm breath tickled along her neck. Tingles flowed over her skin like a rushing river.
Alyona twisted, dislodging the man’s paw. It was a familiar square face. Amber outlined his pupil, intensifying the brown of his eyes. His collared shirt, the color of a twilight sky, clung to the sculpted muscles of his chest. She tilted her chin up to stare him in the eye.
