Say My Name

1. How did you start writing erotic romance? I began by writing MF and after two books, decided to put it aside and begin writing my true passion, MM romance. I’ve always loved heroes, have been in love with them forever, and I felt that I could definitely give men their own love stories. What is better than one passionate and sensual hero? Two!

2. Plotter or pantster? I am a bit of a hybrid these days. I have written and published over 40 books so my writing style and process has changed over the years. In the beginning, I used a scene by scene outline, so detailed that for an 80K word novel, I’d have a 5K outline and I would try to stick to it religiously. These days, I write an outline but it is a lot looser. I write down (for example) ten chapter topics and then a “thought” for each chapter. After that, I write the chapter and let the characters flesh themselves out in it which in my book is panster(ing) enough for a person as OCD as I am. LOL

3. What are three things you have on your writing desk? My coffee, my water, and my phone.

4. Favorite food? Either Thai or Indian (I like highly spiced and exotic)

5. Tell us a little about your new release. What character in the book really spoke to you? “Say my Name” is a Beauty and the Beast/Phantom of the Opera story. I have one character (Cole) who is severely disfigured and bears scars inside and outside from his years in the war. The other character (Dawson) is perfect, and pretty, and everything Cole sees as his opposite. I love stark differences between characters and these two MCs really fill the bill. One is beautiful, one is ugly (if even in his own mind), one is older, one is younger, one is optimistic, one is jaded and forlorn. That’s what makes for a great love story. Bringing two opposites together and helping them to discover their common ground.
Cole (my scarred beast) is a great hero. He’s tragic, having been injured on an Afghani battleground, terribly scarred, and left with a barely functional voice box. When he speaks, he can barely be understood so he has sequestered himself away from the rest of the world watching the goings on in his BDSM club from a wall of windows in his apartment above. What can be more tragic than a man who can barely live with his own demons and has no contact with the outside world? When Cole finally finds the beautiful man of his dreams in the club below, is he going to be the brave man he once was and claim his beauty or continue to hide away forever? He was a great character to write because he was clear as day in my mind.

6. I write because ____... The stories are inside me and they must come out. Bwahahaha!

7. What is your favorite type of character to write about? Heroic, without exception. I have written military men including Special Ops guys, SEALS, Marines, and Army Rangers. I’ve also written Doms and subs, two unusual types of heroes who know who they are deep inside. They love power play, each in their own ways, one with a need to control, and the other with a need to give it up.  I’ve written cowboys, bikers, assassins, drag queens, cops, firemen, construction workers, Native Americans, and supermodels. My cast of characters look like a Village People video but so much more. LOL

8. What is the sexiest scene you ever wrote? Wow, that’s a really hard question. With 40+ books and well over 200 sex scenes, it’s always a challenge coming up with something new. I wrote a scene in “Stix” which comes to mind. A Dom is sitting with his submissive and they are watching a BDSM playroom scene happening in another room from behind a glass barrier. When the Dom orders his sub to begin masturbating for the Dom’s pleasure while the sub watches what’s going on behind the glass, the scene really heats up. The next thing you know, the Dom is so turned on, he drops to the floor and services his submissive to a shattering end. Then he gets to his feet and drags him off to a bed where he has the submissive do all sorts of naughty things to him. That scene gets me every time.

9. What advice would you give new authors in the erotica/romance field? 1) You have a lot of competition so you need to be really committed to what you’re doing or you’ll begin second guessing yourself. 2) You will get better with practice so write as much as you can and above all else, stick with it. You’ll face rejection, sometimes even from yourself, but you have to keep going… just keep doing what you love and you will be fine. Be patient. No one (probably) is going to accept you the moment you send them your masterpiece. Sometimes you might get rejected more than once. In my case, I had a hell of a lot of publishers turn me down before someone finally took a chance on me.

10. What is next on your writerly horizon? I am finishing up “The Brat” the third installment in my Marine Bodyguards series. It is a really fun romp about a spoiled rich kid and a tough-as-nails Marine who is responsible to keep him safe. After that, another book in the Bound by Love series (Say my Name is book 1) will be coming up. It is called “I Dare You”.

Dawson Thomas is a rent boy, a young man who goes out hoping to impress a man who’ll pay him to be a submissive for a kinky night together. One night he accompanies a friend to a BDSM club in New York. Raw Hide is a place where men gather to live out their fantasies and Dawson can’t believe his good luck when the owner invites him upstairs to be paid for a night of kink. When others whisper that the man is hideously deformed, calling him “The Monster”, Dawson remembers the cost of his tuition and puts aside his fears, accompanying the bodyguard to the man’s apartment.
Each night, Cole Chambliss paces in his rooms above Raw Hide, watching beautiful submissives give themselves to their Doms, just a few steps down the stairs. Cole longs for days past when he could go out in public… when no one would stare at him in horror. After paying a bitter price when fighting for his country, Cole knows his days of walking among whole men are gone forever... that is until one night he takes a risk that terrifies him. The stunning submissive who’s caught his eye is something extraordinary and Cole decides he must chance everything for one last shot at happiness.
One dark night, one desperate risk, and one horrifying request later, Cole hears the words he’s feared since his return from the war. “Say my name, Sir… please just… say my name…”

Excerpt 1:
“Good match you made, boss,” Bull said, walking up to the desk where Cole stood.
Cole sat down heavily, looking up at his huge bodyguard. “I don’t want Zander touching him again and he’s not allowed in the pit,” he hissed. His voice was even more hideous and ragged than usual.
“What? Who? Zander?” Bull asked, perplexed. “You don’t want Zander in the pit again but boss, you said…”
“Dawson, you idiot!” Cole shouted.
“But, Cole, you said you wanted Dawson to play with Zander. I explained to him that you just wanted him to take an interest in the submissive the way you asked me to. I told him you didn’t want to see him hooking up with the wrong Dom and that you wanted to see him be a friend to Dawson.”
Cole nodded, feeling a hard rock in the pit of his stomach. “And, did you tell Zander I’d cover Dawson’s fees?”
“Yeah, boss. Besides, their scene was brilliant. Listen to that applause. You haven’t changed your mind, have you Cole?”
Cole cursed the fact that he hadn’t turned off the speaker as the crowd went crazy for them. He squeezed his eyes shut and laid his head back on the leather headrest on his chair. His brain felt like it would split in two from agony and his stomach was twisting with nausea from just having seen Dawson given pleasure by the other dominant. It was killing him. He opened his eyes and looked miserably over at Bull.
“Just… just tell Zander he’s not to touch the boy again, okay?”
“Sure, boss. Anything you say.” Bull turned to walk away but seemed think better of it as he stopped himself in his tracks and spun back around. “You know, Cole, it wouldn’t be so bad if you told the boy you loved him. I know he’s crazy about you too. You’re just too prideful to see it.”
Fucking bloody friends! Who needs you? “You think I’m proud of these scars? I curse them every day!” He stood so fast, the desk chair spun behind him.
“Oh, I didn’t realize Dawson had seen you,” Bull said. He walked back up to Cole’s desk. “I thought you’d blindfolded him and he’d gotten to know you on the inside.” He pointed at Cole’s chest.
Cole’s mouth dropped open. I have! Cole was suddenly pissed all over again as Bull stood there staring at him smugly. He knew damned well what Bull was trying to imply… that somehow Dawson had fallen in love with Cole in spite of never seeing him, meaning the only way he’d ever learned anything about Cole was by the way he perceived him to be on the inside. Cole had to admit, it was an intelligent argument and one he had dismissed until his friend had mentioned it. He’d never thought it was possible that a man like Dawson could fall in love with him and it bugged him to no end that Bull could read him so easily.
He’d lost all his confidence on a battlefield in Afghanistan. But, Cole had seen the emotions in Dawson as he’d sent him away… the way he’d apologized and sobbed, thinking he had done something wrong, had displeased him in some manner. How selfish you’ve been. You toyed with that sweet submissive, made him fall in love with you, and then cast him off, pushing him into someone else’s arms. You stupid man. He stared at Bull for a few seconds, finally sitting back down in his chair, squeezing his eyes shut in shame, and leaning his head back as he realized what a complete ass he’d been to both Dawson and to Zander. Cole had stayed up in his perch of power and played with the hearts and minds of both men and he despised himself for it. He looked up at Bull who hovered over his desk, looking angry.
“I’ve been a horrible idiot and I’ve treated them both badly.” He hated the way emotions seemed to thicken his already ruined voice.
“You know, Cole. Zander’s a big boy. He’ll get over it in a heartbeat if you were to tell him that you made a mistake and wanted Dawson,” Bull said, his voice quiet.
“But, Dawson—”
“Dawson’s a whole other thing, Cole. I think you know that.”
“He’s in love with me? How is that possible?” Cole was flabbergasted that it could be possible.
“You’re in love with him, that’s evident,” Bull said, “Why is it such a far stretch for you to believe he could love you back?”
“I think that’s obvious,” Cole snapped. His stomach was churning as he stared at Bull.
“You know, for an intelligent man, Cole, sometimes, you cannot see past the nose on your own face. Even without the use of his vision, Dawson saw the man I know you are. He saw a compassionate man who has so much to offer the world.”
Cole blew out a long breath as he frowned. “He would be wrong. Those days are over.”
“Then if you truly believe that about yourself, you’re not the man I once knew,” Bull accused. His face was terrifying at the moment and Cole realized must look like his warrior ancestors at their most fierce. “You’ve closed yourself off from the world for four years, refusing to show yourself to anyone. So what if you have scars or a voice you hate. You are a man I’ve always been proud to call friend… and a fantastic Dom,” he said. Cole was surprised how worked up he seemed to be getting. “Besides that, you’re the only one I could trust myself to come out to, Cole. No one in my family would accept me as I was. You rescued me, Cole. I know your heart. Are you too proud to take a chance on that submissive? If you are, I quit.” He turned away and began to walk toward the door to the apartment as Cole shot out of his chair and ran around the desk.
“What are you saying, Bull? You quit?” His voice rumbled with emotion.
Bull stopped in his tracks and turned. The fury written on his best friend’s face was terrifying in its intensity. “Yeah, you heard me. I’m tired of your whining. Get out and live, Cole… or die here alone. Those are your choices. If you can’t see the man you really are, it’s you who’s wearing the blindfold, you stupid dick.”
Without another word, he stomped out of the apartment, slamming the door behind himself. Cole stared at the door for a few seconds trying his best to comprehend what had happened in the last few minutes. He turned and walked back to the windows where he stared out at the club teeming with every kind of life… a life he’d given up on long before.

Evernight Publishing***
BLURB When Rissa Kerry overhears harmful gossip about the CEO of the company she works for, she makes a phone call to Barclay Hampton. What follows is the adventure of a lifetime for Rissa as she becomes Barclay’s assistant in data recovery from a laptop that might reveal the hackers of The Madeline Project. But she never counted on falling in love with the CEO along the way. Will she become his next flavor of the month, or this is the real thing for Rissa and Barclay? Barclay is part of a group of friends financing the efforts to put a stop to The Madeline Project. The program now has a mind of its own, thanks to a virus called Tommy Twister. These men have power, resources, and money, but they’re as ruthless and possessive as the storms ravaging Earth. They call themselves the Weathermen… ADULT EXCERPT He stroked her palm, and when she didn’t pull her hand away, hope began to build. He wanted to push the emotion away and stop this, but he couldn’t. This girl had captivated him, and he was powerless in her presence. “Why do you say that? Why do you think you need to?” She gazed at him with dry eyes now, filled with clarify and purpose. “Because I’m ready to move on. I’m ready to start living again. I don’t want to dishonor his memory, but he’d want me to be happy and I’m not. I don’t mean in my work. I love my work. I mean…” He sighed because he knew exactly what she meant. “You mean you’re lonely, right? Your days are filled with meaningful things to do, but then at night, when the fake sun goes down, the dark creeps in and you wish you could change everything about your life, but you don’t know how or where to start.” She stared at him as if he had lobsters crawling on his face. “How did you do that?” she whispered. “How did you reach into my head and nail it, just like that?” “Because I feel the same way, Rissa.” “But … forgive me, but you’re in the tabloids constantly. You’re never without a date.” “It’s a ruse. I don’t want to be that person any longer.” She looked really uncomfortable, glanced at the pitcher, which was nearly empty, and pulled her hand out of his grasp. Then she pushed her margarita glass away. “Guess we’ve both had enough to drink.” “I’m not drunk. And I’m sorry if you feel I’ve said too much. You’re very easy to be with and talk to.” “You talk to people all the time, Barclay.” He took her hand again, unable to stop himself. He wanted this woman, and he knew she wanted him, too. He could feel it in the air, hanging between them, and it wasn’t the tequila talking. “Yes, I do, but there’s something about you that has me spellbound, Rissa.” She definitely wasn’t drunk, but then neither was he, and as she pulled her hand away again and rose, he realized he needed to tell her that. “Barclay, don’t misunderstand me. I’m grateful for the opportunity to work on this project with you, but I have no intentions of becoming your next conquest. I think we need to make some coffee or drink some water, or something. Then we should get back to work.” She picked up the pitcher and their glasses, and he followed her into the kitchen. “I’m not drunk.” “Good to know.” “Rissa, you want me as much as I want you.” He saw her back stiffen, and then watched her place the pitcher and glasses on the counter, but she didn’t turn to face him. “You do, don’t you?” He spoke softly now, not wanting to frighten her. “Not the point.” “It’s exactly the point.” “I’m not going to do this.” Her voice shook, but not from fear. She was as aroused as he was. “Why not?” “I told you.” “I don’t want to conquer you. I just want to make love to you.” “You don’t even know me.” “You’re worked for me almost a year. I do know you.” She finally turned to face him, and his damn dick was so hard now it was painful. The look on her face made him want to hold her for the rest of his life. “The last man I had sex with was Harry. That was over seven years ago.” He hadn’t expected that. Barclay’s feet finally worked, and he moved toward her slowly. When he reached where she stood, he resisted the urge to simply pull her into his arms. Instead he placed a hand on each shoulder, and the shaky intake of her breath tugged at his heart. She blinked against wet eyes again, and he hoped like hell it wasn’t because she suddenly wished she was anywhere but here. “Then I will be very, very careful.”

Excerpt: RED
A Sexy Shifter Fairytale Romance

Red entered the deep woods, sniffing in appreciation of the cool damp piney scent. The familiar narrow path was little more than a deer trail through the brush. It would get her to Grandma’s in good time. Grandma was a bit of a lone wolf who refused to have a phone. She lived up on the mountain in an area of the forest you couldn’t get to by road. Her independence drove Red’s mother crazy but Red admired the sheer rebelliousness. Good old Grandma. She insisted the old ways were best and she would live off the land until she died.
No wonder Mom had sent her to check on Grandma. Red’s lips curved in a smile. Kill two rebel birds with one stone. Her mother was ever-efficient.
She moved deeper into the woods musing about ways to get the old she-wolf on her side of the argument. Each stride loosened joints tight from a week trapped in the kitchen with her mother. The warm morning sun coming though the trees dappled the earth in an ever-changing pattern and increased her pleasure in her body’s movements. Her pace slowed and she became lulled into feeling there wasn’t any danger.
She wished she dared to change into wolf form and really move. Feel the trail under her paws, smell the true scents of the woods, taste the air. But her mother’s warning about the hunters in the park was fresh. Hunters wouldn’t hesitate to shoot a wolf.
All they would have to do was say it had attacked them, their dogs, or their squeaky duck lures and the new park ranger would side with them. No, ever since the new ranger had taken over, all the pack had become more cautious.
Her body moved her up the trail on auto-pilot while her brain continued to re-hash her problem. She was stuck in limbo, like a lamb before the slaughter. Alive, but going nowhere. She was desperate to get out of town. Her mating instincts told her she should search out a mate. But they conflicted with her personal instincts that told her to go find a career and separate from her controlling family.
But instead of taking charge of her own destiny like a human woman, here she was, checking on Grandma like a good girl. She even had a Tupperware box of goodies stuffed in her pack in case Grandma wasn't eating anything but rabbit.
Zoned out on the familiar path, her sensitive nose picked up a smell. An appetizing smell, of cloves and wood smoke and something…something male.
She froze, all her senses on alert.
Her ears and nose almost twitched forward.
There, in the shadows on the side of the trail, was a man. A man in a ranger uniform standing next to a large frame backpack. How could she not have noticed him before? How long had he been watching her?
She forced her body to look relaxed and stifled the urge flooding her system and threatening to overwhelm herthe urge to change into her wolf and deal with the danger.
She smiled, and hoped it wasn’t too toothy. Her instincts said she was a wolf, but all he would perceive was a young woman—not a threat.
This had to be the new ranger Seth had talked about non-stop for the last week. How this new guy had taken Uncle Bob’s spot when Uncle Bob died last month in a car accident. How no one was ready from the pack to step into Bob’s position and handle the pack’s personal area of the forest. How the ranger had better watch his step—or there would be trouble.
Seth had bitched and moaned, but what he hadn’t said was how totally hot this guy was. Or how delicious he smelled. She put him at just under six foot, but that was tall compared to her petite five-foot two. Long and lean, he had the look of someone who spent a lot of time outdoors, hiking or maybe skiing. He stepped forward and swept back his shaggy brown hair, revealing warm brown eyes that held the look. The look men gave women—open, appreciative, and a touch guarded.
She returned it with a bold appraising one of her own. He was just what she needed to distract her from her family issues. He was hot, male—and a stranger.
“Hi, I’m Evan Brewster.” He held out his hand, waiting for her to take it. She hesitated. A slow smile crept across his lips.
She swallowed. Wolves didn’t shake hands and she didn’t usually meet anyone she hadn’t known since birth. She stepped forward, held out her hand like she thought a normal girl would. And ignored her stomach’s quivering.
“You must be Uncle Bob’s replacement. Nice to meet you.” Here was her chance to practice with a regular human. To prove to her parents and the pack elders she could function in the wide world. That her days of indiscriminate changes were over, and that she was a competent adult. He took her hand. His calloused grip was warm and strong.
Electricity shot up her arm and into her chest. Her heart rate sped up just like the seconds before a kill. Sudden warm wet heat pooled between her legs. She yanked her hand back, stopping short of rubbing her tingling palm on her thigh.
Oh man! She didn’t even know this guy. He wasn’t pack, wasn’t even a shifter, despite his touch that had her shaking. Shaking like a spindly branched cottonwood in the fall breeze. She took another deep sniff, reassured herself that he was all human. And knew he was not only human, but he was all male.
She wasn’t in heat. Why would she respond to him like this? Like she wanted to strip him down and do him right here on the path. Maybe it was the uniform. This guy filled out the standard park ranger uniform nicely. Much nicer than Uncle Bob. This was what her family had been afraid would happen if she went to college and was around too many human males. That she would pick a human, instead of one of the not-so-distantly related wolves they kept parading in front of her. Mate with one of them, instead of her own kind.
Inter-species relationships between humans and wolf-shifters were common in the old days when populations were spread out and the choice of mates was slim. Now they were rare. Extremely rare. No one mated permanently with humans. It was wrong, just wrong. Maybe her family was right. If she was this desperate she should just pick one of the available local wolves and settle down.
But she’d never felt like this about any of the pack males. Not even the human guy she’d been with as a teenager had caused this immediate tingling urge for sex. She swallowed, feeling suddenly shy and cautious, and smiled.
Evan.
She rolled his name through her mind, resisted the desire to taste the flavor of it on her tongue. Maybe if she wasn’t touching him she could do this—carry on a normal conversation. She struggled for something to say, something that would cover this incredible desire to fuck a complete stranger.
“Welcome to Radon,” she managed to get out. “How do you like it so far?” Inane. Moronic. But it was out now. She hoped he couldn’t see the shaking that had started at his touch, or smell the moisture between her legs. Luckily, he was only human.
Calm down, Red! You can do this. You have to do this.
“It’s been interesting. It’s a pretty tight-knit little town.” His gaze had warmed, becoming friendly. And interested.
She knew what that appraising look meant. She’d received it from all the available males her parents had invited to their house in an effort to entice her to settle down. But none of the bachelor wolves had made her feel like this. Like her whole body was tuned in to his. Like she should get on all fours, push her ass in the air, spread her legs, and beg.
Her palms were damp. She caught him checking her out and was glad her hoodie was zipped up over her chest. Her nipples tightened so fast, so hard, they almost hurt.
"Town's been a little tough on you, huh?" she asked. Poor guy, he couldn't have known what coming to this area would be like. They hadn’t had a ranger who wasn’t pack in her lifetime. The county was up in arms.
“You could say that.” He shot her a conspiratorial smile that warmed his eyes to molten chocolate. She had a sudden vivid picture of a sheepskin rug and him lying naked in front of a fire, her lips and tongue tracing the contoured lines of muscles illuminated by the flames.
She dragged her mind back, forcing it to focus on the present. Focus on the words coming out from between his sexy lips.
“You’re the friendliest person I’ve run into in this town. Where have you been hiding?”
Wrong question ranger. The question was who had been hiding him from her? Now her mother keeping her home from work to make jam made sense. Her mother would never think she was an adult. Although maybe her mom was right—given her lusty thoughts maybe she should be sequestered.
“I normally work in town—at the general store. I must have just missed you.” Yeah right. Did that sound as lame to him as it had to her? She lifted her chin. Her mother’s plan had backfired. Despite being sent off to the boonies she’d met the new guy in town. And boy was he hot.
“Is that Burdock’s? It’s the only general store I’ve seen.” One long hand reached up, pushing his thatch of hair back off his face in an unconscious slow sensual movement. The hair fell forward back into place as soon as he released it, thick and dark and oh so touchable.
“Yeah. I guess you’ve been in there.”
“Yeah. Is the black haired dude with the bad-ass attitude related?” His eyes crinkled up at the corners when he smiled. Another urge to spread her thighs slid through her. In an effort to control it, she clenched them tight.
What had he asked?
“Seth,” she said, relieved she knew what to say. “He’s one of my brothers. He’s none too happy you’re here.”
“Why is that?”
“Let’s just say we’re a typical small town. Outsiders aren’t really welcome.”
“You know, you’re the first woman I’ve met under thirty all week. I was beginning to wonder where they all were.”
Dangerous territory. She’d better be careful what she said. Obviously the alphas had the few available females under lock and key.
“We have a surplus of men in this town. You probably just missed the women.” He made her so nervous, she just knew she would slip and let something out. Something that would alert him that all was not as it seemed in small town Radon, Colorado. “It’s been nice but I have to get going.”
She smiled and started to move down the path, but he stepped in front of her, blocking her.
The back of her neck prickled.
She supposed he was eager to talk to the only friendly face in town but she wished he would back off. She was having enough trouble controlling herself as it was. Her heightened senses told her to take action. Now.
He’d moved too close. His spicy male scent filled her nostrils, caressing her skin. She wanted to bury her face in the crook of his neck and inhale, suck him in like oxygen before going underwater.
“Where are you off to?”
“My grandmother lives up the mountain. I’m just going to check on her, stay a while.”
His face lost its easy smile and grew concerned. “You’re hiking up the mountain by yourself? A woman like you shouldn’t be out here alone.” She bristled at his statement. Just like her brother! What was it with men and their bossy attitudes?
“A woman like me? Slow down buster! I’ve been hiking this mountain since I could walk. You’re out here alone, why not me?”
“But I’m a trained outdoorsman. What if the weather changes? You hardly look prepared in those shorts. What do you have in that pack?” He moved closer to her. She backed up, suppressing the desire to bare her teeth. With relief she channeled her newfound sexuality into anger instead. This she understood. Human or not, he was beginning to get her back up, just like any other male.
“I’ll be at Grandma’s before dark. And it’s an incredible day. No storm in sight. See ya.” She edged around him back onto the path, determined to put both him and temptation behind her.
“Wait, I’ll go with you. There are signs of hunters in the area. You shouldn’t be hiking alone.” He shouldered his oversize pack with ease. Then scrambled, trying to buckle the waist straps and keep up with her at the same time. She stepped up the pace.
She could feel him close behind, knew he was eye level with her ass. Knew he watched her backside swish with each step. Her tingling nerves began to send messages again. With him nipping at her ankles, she felt like prey.
“No, thanks. You won’t be able to keep up.” She moved faster, pumping her legs in a rapid rhythm on the familiar trail. His legs might be longer than hers, but she had wolf stamina and a light pack. No way he could keep up with her for long.
“Hey, I’ve been through hell in the military. If I could keep up in basic, then I can keep up with you, little girl.”
She laughed. Flashing a catch-ya-later look over her shoulder she put on a hair more speed. He’d find out soon enough that she might be little but she had more oomph in this little package than most. And he could just watch her swish her tail until she was out of sight.

Angel's Keeping

1. How did you start writing erotic romance?
I read too many romance novels that end up disappointing me. I feel romance and erotica aren't taken seriously as literary genres... and authors weren't taking their work in the genres seriously either. I wanted to write something that was not only erotic and emotional, but had a strong story and solid plot as well.  I’ve discovered I really enjoy the freedom and creative potential of writing erotic stories.
2. Plotter or pantster?
I plot, mostly, though I don't like to use outlines or other more 'structured' methods.  Most of my scenes come to me in little nuggets, and I sort of 'massage' them into a plot.  This usually relates to music, playlists, and soundtracks I’m listening to. At the moment I’m favoring some Lady Gaga, Florence + The Machine, and Evanescence while I work on the next Blood and Fire novel.
3. What are three things you have on your writing desk?
Lately it’s been my Kindle, my new Galaxy Grand Prime, and a large ice tea. I’m an email addict and I need to have at least one device which will access my email at hand. And while I work I love to enjoy a good, crisp ice tea.
4. Favorite food?
I love Macaroni and Cheese, especially if it's sharp cheese or white cheddar.
5. Tell us a little about your new release. What character in the book really spoke to you?
Angel's Keeping is a short novella in the same series as my first book, Lotus Petals. The story features a different cast of characters, however: while Lotus Petals follows the story of a vampire warrior, Angel's Keeping brings readers into the present, and introduces them to the incubi and succubae families. Two of the characters—Raschael and Malael—have appeared in my short stories before, but this is the first significant story about their side of the demonic street in my Blood and Fire series. Oddly enough, it was a supporting character—the stripper, Noelle—who spoke to me most. She was very fun to write and I enjoyed her teasing and banter.
6. I write because I have stories to share, and my biggest dream is to know others might enjoy hearing them as much as I enjoy telling them.
7. What is your favorite type of character to write about?
I'm usually a big fan of powerful women with a "weak spot", something making them vulnerable beneath their tough exterior. My vampire, Rhiannon; my fae Knight, Reagan; and my new leading lady, Sadira, all fall under this archetype, although in different ways. In Angel's Keeping, though, I got to write a little bit from a very opposite archetype: the succubus, Kyriel, is the absolute wrong kind of demon, in Blood and Fire: she is soft, tender, and sweet. Writing a character with such an open and fresh vulnerability was a really beautiful feeling.
8. What is the sexiest scene you ever wrote?
Recently an erotic author I admire suggested an erotic prompt to me, challenging me to write out a story where the lovers have the capability to alter one another’s bodies, but not their own. The result was a very edgy story, to me at least, and I loved the harsh tone of it and the transgressive experiment. There’s body mod and gender swapping involved, and while it’s not the most transgressive act I’ve ever written of, it certainly feels like the rawest, most graphic sexual scene I’ve written in a while.
9. What advice would you give new authors in the erotica/romance field?
Read with an attentive ear. Listen to how professionally published authors sound, listen for the voice of their narrative. There are some qualities of writing that can’t be learned so much as they are absorbed from a good habit of reading. The more you listen to the voice of other writers the more you will develop a stronger voice of your own.
10. What is next on your writerly horizon?
I’m still working on the next books in both my Blood and Fire and Four Courts series, as well as my fantasy BDSM. Meanwhile, I’m trying to clean up a fantasy western series that’s been gathering dust for several years, and trying to spruce it up for submittal.

Blurb

Even fallen angels can wish for a miracle.
As a succubus, preying on humans is Raschael's business, and mortal feelings are nothing but a waste of time. So maybe her king meant to punish her when he sent her out to hunt on one of the most holy mortal holidays. Or maybe he just wanted her far, far away, so he could banish Raschael's one and only friend.

Now Raschael must track down a missing fallen angel, and she doesn't have a clue where to start. Bigger predators are closing in, and Rasche's only lead is a Christmas stripper named Noelle.

Book excerpt

The waitress ditched her tray of drinks and took Rasche by the hand, leading her into one of the back rooms. The Christmas theme survived even in the private show quarters, though with a more generous degree of triple-X action. The small space Raschael's escort chose had been decorated with garlands and wreaths, and a stocking hung by the door, but on top of the holiday trimmings there were also striking boudoir pictures. They all contained the same sweet, golden angel, but in much less "angelic" form.

Raschael spun to address the woman personally. "Who are you?"

By way of answer, the woman nodded her head at the bright red stocking. Noelle, it read in sapphire blue, glittery letters across the trim.

"Noelle?" Rasche asked. "Really?"

"Yes, really," Noelle replied with a brilliant smile. "It really is my God-given name. Honest."

"Alright, Noelle, then about Kyrie--"

"Oh, now, now."

Noelle took Rasche's hand again, stroking her fingers, and led her to the soft red leather seat stationed in the center of the room. She gestured for Raschael to sit and, before Raschael could stop her, climbed expertly up into the succubae's lap.

"First thing's first, gorgeous. How about we get a little more...intimate?"

She raised a hand and snapped her fingers. The faded strains of Blink 182 from the main room became inaudible, as Lady Gaga's "Speechless" flowed into the room's own speakers. Noelle lowered herself over Raschael's body, rocking in time with the sultry piano, wrapping arms around the fallen one's neck.

Forgetting herself for the briefest of moments, Raschael closed her eyes and let the first swell of carnal desire stir to life in her loins and chest. The dancer didn't stop her when she lifted up her hands and cupped them over warm, soft buttocks.

Noelle smelled of warm vanilla. She had a luscious body, petite with classic curves, Renaissance in a way...but with eyes closed, Raschael's mind made her Kyriel, little and lithe and naughty. Under her hands, Noelle's plump hindquarters might have been Kyrie's slim, boyish ass instead, and the sweet scent of heather rose up with the remembered sounds of Kyrie's intoxicated desire, from earlier in the evening. Rasche lowered her face to nuzzle against a plentiful swell of tender breasts, and she sighed before she could stop herself, moving her body against the other woman's with yearning.

"Why don't you tell me about your friend," Noelle whispered against her ear, gyrating ever-so-delightfully against Raschael's body. "Why are you out searching for her on Christmas Eve, hm?"

"She ran away," Raschael said. Her palms caressed the dancer's ass greedily. "And I'm responsible for bringing her back before she gets in trouble."

Noelle tsk'd her. "Now, now, Raschael. You make her out to be some sort of bad puppy."

The dancer extended a leg and swung herself neatly around, facing away now to grind her pert little rear down on the succubae's lap instead. Noelle's hands stole to hers and guided them up to stroke tits through gauzy white fabric. Raschael's fingertips found stiffened nipples, and she teased them through the thin material.

"Who told you my name?" she asked. "Kyrie?"

"Mm, could be..."

Noelle's hands closed, warm, over Rasche's own, as the dancer welcomed her to knead, stroke, and caress. Rasche inclined her head to breathe in deep, relishing the scent of beautiful blonde hair.

"Listen, honey," she whispered. "I'm sure as hell enjoying this, and if I had the time to spare I'd be all over you in ways you can't even conceive."

"Mm-hm," Noelle replied. Her hips rolled in languid, mesmerizing rhythm, and Rasche let out a little growl as she returned the the motion in kind.

"Oh, sweetness, I'd fuck you until you couldn't stand," she said. "But not now. You're going to tell me if you've seen my girl, and where she is, and then we'll see about making it up to you. Sound good?”
