Decadent Kane

Length of Book: novella
Genre:  Explicit sex, some warning for language

Blurb:
Fate may take her life, but he will steal her soul.

Madness stalks Poppy’s dreams, drowning her in darkness, pain, and the fires of hell. The elementals require her sacrifice, or they will end her bloodline forever. The worst part? She just found him...

The elf who is destined for her.
The male who will go mad without her.
The mate she can’t have.

Drayden knows the feral has him. He's turning into a drow faster than he thought possible. Rage and chaos consume him from the inside out, threatening to devour not only him, but his soul mate as well. She fears him, and yet she is the only one who can save him from his nightmare…

If they can survive the sage witch’s treacherous task.
If he can hold onto his soul a little longer.
If he can watch her die.

Excerpt:
She bolted.
Drayden threw his arms up in frustration. How was he ever going to get her hair if he kept scaring her away? He sniffed the air and followed the smell of blood. In a blink, he was right behind her. Another blink, and he stopped in front of the female. "I can smell your blood. No use running. Or hiding, for that matter."
She backpedalled and headed for a tree. He blinked again, blocking her off. Her breathing came fast and hard. Once she seemed to catch it, her lips thinned, and she glared at him. "What do you want from me?"
"To help. You're hurt." He pointed at her leg. Once he earned some of her trust, he'd try to get her hair. As it was, she wouldn't let him near her, and he didn't see it happening anytime soon, either.
"Drow don't help."
"I'm not an elfing drow!" Yet.
"Right, because you’re yelling and your charred skin with all your veins coming to the top like every other drow in this realm makes you what, a fairy princess?"
Drayden took an angry stomp forward. He clenched his teeth, trying to bite back words he knew he wouldn't be able to take back. He cracked his knuckles and took a deep breath, letting it out slowly, trying to regain some semblance of peace. She stood there and stared at him. "As I said, the feral is strong, but I have not turned fully. I wish you no harm." He took a step forward, and she stepped backward. She was going to run again. Drayden looked down at her feet, anticipating the moment she would flee. Mere seconds. He blinked at the same time, grabbing hold of her. He needed to immobilize the female. Glancing at the tree behind her, he used the blink momentum and pinned her between the bark and him.

Questions:

1. How did you start writing erotic romance?
I was dared by another writer.
2. Plotter or pantster?
A little of both, though I fall heavier on the plotter side.
3. What are three things you have on your writing desk?
Liver flavored dog treats, calendar, and notebooks
4. Favorite food?
Strawberries
5. Tell us a little about your new release. What character in the book really spoke to you?
Poppy really spoke to me in this new elf book. She had a lot going on and fate has so much in store for her that Poppy ended up having quite a bit to tell me. I connected with her more easily than the other characters, though I do have to admit that poppy's family pulled my heartstrings a bit too.
6. I write because ____...
I have a deep burning desire to do so bubbling underneath my skin, my thoughts, my every waking moments.
7. What is your favorite type of character to write about?
Alpha males.
8. What is the sexiest scene you ever wrote?
I have written a lot of sexy scenes throughout both my series' but Impure Bargains, in my opinion, has the sexiest with light BDSM and a very Alpha demon.
9. What advice would you give new authors in the erotica/romance field?
Avoid medical terms like pelvis. Don't be afraid to put the sexy on the page.
10. What is next on your writerly horizon?
I'm currently working on 1 brand new novel, possibly a stand alone and the second book to my impure series.

Impure Bargains: Decadent Kane

1. How did you start writing erotic romance? I was dared to J
2. Plotter or pantster? Both depends on two things- what I'm writing and how I feel when I start.
3. What are three things you have on your writing desk? A BB gun (don't ask LOL), An Iron, and paper.
4. Favorite food? Strawberries
5. Tell us a little about your new release. What character in the book really spoke to you?
Impure Bargains is the start of my Impure series featuring demons firmly placing it in the paranormal romance genre. It's a bargain for souls and the heart gets stuck in the middle. Desiderus, my demon, is the one who spoke out to me the most.
6. I write because ____...
It fills my soul with joy, impassions me, and makes me feel happy.
7. What is your favorite type of character to write about?
I really like an alpha type male.
8. What is the sexiest scene you ever wrote?
Uh...up to now I think the sexiest scene I've ever written is between Desiderus and Haven, when he uses his demon power to uh...bind her so she can't move while he tortures the hell out of her sexually. J
9. What advice would you give new authors in the erotica/romance field?
Write it for fun! Seriously the more fun you have with the sexual nature of what you're writing the better it comes out in the scene and less forced it reads.
10. What is next on your writerly horizon?

Book 2 in my Impure series.

Impure Bargains

Blurb for Impure Bargains by Decadent Kane
Desiderus has served Ba'al faithfully for nearly one hundred years. When Haven Rowe put a gun to his head and pulled the trigger, her fierce nature stirred emotions he hadn't felt since before Ba'al claimed him. With his sight set on consuming her body and soul, he'll use every deceptive idea at his disposal to make sure she belongs to him.
When Haven walked in on a demon stealing her brother, Jeremy, her entire world unraveled. Born to a family of magic users, yet unable to use magic of her own, Haven will do anything to get her brother back from the depths of hell, even if it means she has to bargain her soul.
With the help of a witch, Haven seeks out loopholes to the soul bargains that have been made. She either finds a way out for her and Jeremy, or they both might be lost forever. What she doesn't count on is the betrayal of her own body and the insurmountable attraction she has for the demon she's trying to escape.

Excerpt
Surprised by the female's actions, Desiderus watched her run for a moment before his mind registered her actions. Her obsidian hair flew behind her with a strange bag slung over her small shoulders. In a way, he should have known Haven would bolt. Experience all but told him that. Many had run and failed. Desiderus shook his head and a grin spread across his lips. She wouldn't get far and not just because she was naked. He had a pretty good idea that Haven didn't worry about her loss of clothes as much as she worried about what he might do to her. He would have loved nothing more than to chase after her...but she needed to be taught a lesson, to understand what it meant for him to have her name, for him to be in control.
After quickly making Ba'al's sign in the air in front of him, a toad with a circle, magic flickered into the sigil like sparking a match. The sign brightened to an orange color. Desiderus had been a demon so long it took seconds to create. Under his breath, he let her name roll off his tongue in one easy motion, "Haven Rowe."
The color of the sigil sprinkled away on a breeze and black smoke swirled. Haven's image slowly began to appear, little by little, tantalizing, as if she somehow knew he wanted her body, far more than he had any other mortal female. Her legs came first, the lazy curve of her hips, he groaned with the swell of her heaving breasts, and finally her face construed in a perfect scowl piercing him with those damn blue eyes.
"Running will do you no good, Haven." Inside lust coiled around his core, urging him to do anything but stand there looking staring. Her skin shimmering with sweat, making his tongue slip out to lick his lips. He swallowed a groan at the thought of tasting her tanned flesh. Lost in his erotic notions he didn't see her foot until it was too late and a sharp jolt of lightning like pain raced up from between his legs, shooting over his spine and slamming into the base of his brain. Colors formed in his eyes and he blinked it away as his stomach churned. His knees weakened, but he kept himself standing somehow, adrenalin replacing the pain as anger mounted inside him like a lion.
"But that does demon." Haven turned to run for the second time and despite the throbbing radiating from his balls, Desiderus reached out for her, latching fingers around an ankle that had come up from the ground and Haven fell front first into the dirt with Desiderus falling on top of her.

Breathless Monday: Whisper of Rue

1.       How did you start writing erotic romance?
A writer friend dared me to.
2.       Plotter or pantster?
A little of both, in the beginning I like to do some plotting., then my characters take over and I fly by the seat of my pants. J
3.       What are three things you have on your writing desk?
A book by Karen Moning, pens, and smarties.
4.       Favorite food?
Love strawberries
5.       Tell us a little about your new release. What character in the book really spoke to you?
Whisper of Rue was a challenging novella to write. I wrote a bit different than normal adding a more mystery aspect to the story. Gage spoke to me the most first, but in the end I connected with Rue deeper.
6. I write because life is short and it's what I want to do...
7. What is your favorite type of character to write about?
      Strong leading lady.
8. What is the sexiest scene you ever wrote?
In book 4- cayenne covered in honey- ten page sex scene- I'd say that was the sexiest but perhaps asking my readers would be a better idea.
9. What advice would you give new authors in the erotica/romance field?
Don't quit. Even if you think it's sucks, finish the story drop it in a drawer and then write another.
10. What is next on your writerly horizon?
I'm working on two stories, one about the Drow king which I will write as my NaNoWriMo project and the other is about demons.

Blurb:

After Rue walks into her home, there's a magical earpiece and a mysterious letter waiting for her. On the other end of that earpiece is a tortured soul, whose life is on the line if she doesn't do exactly as Gage Evans, the voice in the earpiece, says. Pissed that the male elf has her at his bidding because she can't just let someone die, she follows his instructions. They not only lead her to the tortured elf, but the killer of her father as well.
When she lets loose a powerful magic and is thrown in a dungeon with Mr. Evans, she'll have to keep control of her senses to figure her way out of a place with no doors, or windows, and damnit why wasn't she born with the elven gift of blinking magically away?

Excerpt:

"Rue, you can call me every name in your pretty little head but it won't change anything. Afraid you're stuck with me, and your decisions will affect everything. But you're stubborn and you won't see things my way instantly. You'll need proof. I understand. But don't say I didn't warn you," he stated.
Proof of what? He was playing games with her and she wasn't in the elfing mood. He had no right to come in her home. No right to make demands on her. No right to invade every inch of her privacy. She wanted the earpiece out. Why'd she have to get all curious and put the stupid thing in to begin with? Her mother always said her curiosity would lead her to trouble one day and Rue had the dreadful sense that today was that day. "I don't know why you chose me to do whatever it is you need. Probably something horrible. But quit fucking around and remove the spell."
"You want it removed?"
"Yes." She hissed the word. Her anger bubbled inside threatening to tear her apart, mainly because she couldn't see the man attempting to control her.
"Then come and find me."

Tempting Clover

Breaking a goblin's curse is more difficult than Clover thought. Especially when love and nightshade are crucial ingredients.

For two years, Clover has been at a goblin's beck and call. Two years of no orgasms. Until she heard a rumor the sage witch could help her break the goblin's curse. There's only a few minor details, like how would she find love on short notice and how deadly are nightshade berries?
Reed's life was simple—own a bar, walk to work, fight a little. He didn't expect to tangle with a wanton elfess who disappeared on him not once but twice. Let alone save her from a depraved goblin. He'd sworn off women like her for good, so why did he feel the need to protect her?

Excerpt:

Clover watched his chest widen as he inhaled. He owned the bar and did the tending? Impressive. One little thing to settle. "My savior..." she purred and reached for him, sliding her body up against his. "What do you want for your heroic deed, sir?" Her voice took on a note of sarcasm. "Perhaps I should repay you with a nice, long fuck. Is that what you want?" She brushed a hand along his chest and walked a circle around him. It's what all men wanted, and if she could oblige, she would. Despite her hurt pride, she found his masculinity, his strength penetrating every part of the bar, captivating.
"I want nothing from you. I only did what any gentleman would have done, Elfess."
Her heart skipped. He'd already nicknamed her. Anger flared. "I can handle myself. You had no reason to interfere." It didn't matter that she liked the nickname and how it rolled off his tongue in that smooth low voice. She didn't need a protector.
People began to stare.
"And what could you have done as his fist collided with your pretty face? I couldn't have that now, could I?" His eyebrow arched.
"It wouldn't have hit me. I would have moved out of the way. He was slow. I had everything under control. You men are all the same—only looking to fulfill your own pride, make sure you're seen in a good light. I'm no distressed elfling." Clover stepped back.
Anger permeated him. His nostrils flared out and his face turned the cutest shade of red. Clover resisted the urge to smile.
"Next time, I will oblige your pride." He advanced on her, taking away the distance between them. His jaw clenched when he reached her. Clover moved backward, wary of his intentions. His green eyes glared. "Are you worried now, Elfess?"

Guest Post:

Want to improve your writing?
Then go forth and read.
Spend hours doing research, by reading for pleasure.
It restores your creativity while teaching you how to write…Obviously the author you're reading is pretty good to keep your interest.
My top five restored learning books are:
1.      Dark Prince by Christine Feehan.
Feehan can write some amazing tension between her characters and she uses a call and response form to her style of writing- she writes narrative, then about relationship, then narrative, then back to relationship. It's like the blues only done in writing form.
2.      Lothaire by Kresley Cole.
Cole is by far one of my newest favorite authors. I love how outrageous and shocking her characters are. It compels me to read more at the same time making my mouth drop in shock that it had happened- to the character- I want to learn how to do this, how to draw this kind of reaction from a reader. So I will research more- reading her books over and over again.
3.      Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison.
Harrison really has a strong leading female. She created a great cast to round out her lead female, Rachel, and I'm in awe how much I love her secondary chaarcters. I want to know how secondary characters come so naturally in her books and how to apply something similar in mine, to make a secondary character so endearing…
4.      Fever by Karen Moning.
Moning created a brilliant world with the fae and of course the legendary Jericho barrens who is the ultimate bad boy. This bad boy character has swept through her readers, stealing hearts. While I read her for pleasure, again she is another author with the balls to actually make her character blunt and so forthright that my mouth drops at what he says. The dialogue in Moning's books are delicious and I could learn a thing or two by reading her series.
5.      Moon Called By Patricia Briggs.
How do I explain Mercy from Brigg's stories. She is the ultimate tom boy who can shift into a coyote and catches the undivided attention of her neighbor who happens to be the lead alpha in his were pack. One of my favorite thing a about this author is her ability to add a tiny detail like a walking stick and have it mean so much later not only in the book but throughout the series. I want to do that- foreshadow without coming out with it. Having something right before a readers eyes only for them to easily disregard it, because really- a walking stick? I love it.

The lesson to take away here is as a writer, you favorite books and authors have so much to give you, if you'll only look. And think of it this way, the next time someone interrupts you reading you can tell them you are working.          ~Decadent Kane

About the author:

If I had to describe myself, it would be in a word that has infinite meanings with a complexity which falls off the tongue.
A word made up of many elements, is deceptive in appearance, and creates an illusion from the imagination.
My word would be Phantasmagoric.

1.How did you start writing erotic romance? Honestly it was a dare and then here I am- dare turned book.
2. Plotter or pantster? A little of both though I think I lean toward a pantser side…
3. What are three things you have on your writing desk? A book by Kresley Cole, several pens, and Jolly ranchers.
4. Favorite food? Strawberries.
5. Tell us a little about your new release. What character in the book really spoke to you? My new release is a fun adventure into my elven world where elves age at a very slow pace and Christmas magic is based off them in order to survive. The character that spoke to me most was Draven, my leading elf man. (Or perhaps he just spoke to my libido *grins*)
6. I write because ____...
Writing is not a want, it's a need. A burning from within that takes my breath away at the best of times and crushes my soul at the worst. It's both masochist and sadist.
Blank pages call to me and drive me crazy.
I need to see words written down in my handwriting. I need to create characters, worlds, plots, ideas, dialogue. My fingers pull the fiction from my essence and leave me spent on the page…

It's almost better than an orgasm.

I write for me, for fun, to entertain, to play.

It's engraved in my heart.

I write because it's a part of who I am, something I can't turn away. A feeling of fulfillment and loss all wrapped up in pens and pages. Never neatly and always beckoning.

 7. What is your favorite type of character to write about? I like saucy women- strong but can be swept off their feet.

8. What is the sexiest scene you ever wrote? Sexiest scene I ever wrote to date is at the end of my next book Tempting Clover. *winks*

9. What advice would you give new authors in the erotica/romance field? Just because it has sex in it- does not make it erotic. Explore the tension between the characters, then you'll find the erotica.

10. What is next on your writerly horizon? I have book 2 in the trouble with elves stand alone series coming at the end of January and I'm currently revising 2 new stories to submit to my editor.

Excerpt:

"Ribbon, sweetie, take a deep breath. I can assure you this is real. I'm sorry; I should have told you sooner."
"Damn right you should have. Look at me!" Ribbon threw her hands up.
"Will you please lower your voice? Yelling won't change what has happened. It won't fix it."
"Then maybe going back to bed will. I'll wake up and this will all be some oddity I can't quite remember and—"
"Ribbon Lee Winters!"
Ribbon snapped to attention. "It's real, isn't it?"
Her mother's eyes softened. "Please listen to what I should have told you a long time ago."
Ribbon listened as her mother told her about the North Pole, about the magic that keeps elves from aging, and how magic dies over time in the human world. There was a lot to take in, a lot she wasn't sure she could even believe. Ribbon kept staring at her mother's ears. They really did look just the same as hers.
"And of course, one last thing, sweetheart. That man you bumped into yesterday at the shop—"
"Draven."
"Yes, Draven North. He's a spy for Mr. Claus. I fear he's found us out."
Ribbon put a hand to her mouth. She was a rogue Christmas elf fantasizing about having hot sex with Santa's spy.
