Author Interview-
1. How did you start writing erotic
romance?
I've always loved to read romance and I love to
write so I combined the two. There's no force on earth more powerful than the
chemistry between two people when each finds 'the one'. It's an honor to share
in my character's journeys and discoveries about love and also about
themselves.
2. Plotter or pantster?
Pantster. I do plot a bit: I have a rough idea what
I want to do and I do a brief (and I mean fit on a small sticky note sheet of
paper brief) character sketch for each main character but mostly I sit down and
I type what my characters are telling me to type. I also go back each scene and
chapter to add or subtract what works and what doesn't. And this is before I
even begin self edits.
3. What are three things you have on
your writing desk?
A replica of the journal the 11th Doctor gave to
River Song (the Tardis blue shaped one she noted all their adventures in), a
stuffed bunny that was my husband's first present to me (he calls me his bunny)
and a huge espresso bar candle from Bath and Body Works.
4. Favorite food?
Chocolate. For the other food groups, roasted beets,
grilled chicken with garlic and fresh baked bread.
5. Tell us a little about your new
release. What character in the book really spoke to you?
Leave Your Hat On is part of the month long
Breathless Press Anniversary celebration with Wonderland Tales, or stories
inspired from the classic book, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the
Looking Glass. In my short tale, a bachelorette party at a local strip club is
hell on earth for the heroine, a shy, bookish sort who would rather be curled
up at home with a good book, a bacon cheeseburger, and tons of chocolate. But
she's the Maid of Honor and can't get out of the
by-the-way-we-all-have-to-dress-in-costume 'fun'. When she seeks an escape from
watching nearly nude dancing Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, she finds a quiet
corner room inhabited by one very sexy Mad Hatter. Let the madness begin!
Ailis, the heroine of Leave Your Hat On is really
the most like me and spoke to me in a 'we're mirror images' type way. There's
more of me in her than in any of the female characters I've written about so
far. But the character's voice I heard the most and loudest was The Hatter just
because he's such a sexy devil with a mischievous sense of humor. He gently
teases Ailis out of her shell and into one of the best evenings of her life. He
also gave us both a bit of a shock at the end.
6. I write because ____...
I breathe. Writing is a gift, just like life, and I
don't intend a waste a moment of it.
7. What is your favorite type of
character to write about?
Characters who need to learn something about
themselves so they can grow as a character are my favorites. I think they are
the most true to life, as well, since every time I learn something new about
myself (such as the fact I can survive my students singing 'Let it Go' for the
thousandth time without yanking my hair out and screaming) I grow a bit more as
a person.
8. What is the sexiest scene you ever
wrote?
In my work in progress book, the heroine comes in to
find the hero trying to bake cookies for his sister who has been very ill. He's
extremely frustrated by the fact he can cook but he can't bake and the cookies
are burnt hockey pucks. Seeing this self assured, and admittedly slightly
(very) arrogant man reduced to muttering frustration over a pan of cookies
stirs something inside her and she jumps him. They end up against his balcony
door, which is glass, in a steamy fast encounter they learn later was witnessed
by their neighbors.
9. What advice would you give new
authors in the erotica/romance field?
Never give up and never stop writing. Only those who
try succeed.
10. What is next on your writerly
horizon?
I'm finishing another book in the Weddings by C
& C series. The first one, Wedding Belle Blues, released in June and the
second, Take a Chance on Me, is releasing from breathless Press later this
year. Hopefully, readers will get to read the above mentioned scene in 2015.

About the author-
Mia Epsilon lives with her enduring soul mate hubby
in the gorgeous Blue Ridge Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina, USA. She's
an avid reader of almost anything but particularly romance, with too many
favorite authors to name. Mia is a never-miss-an-episode viewer of Doctor Who and Sherlock, eagerly waits each new season, and tends to binge watch
both on Netflix with a couple of pots of tea and a plate of blueberry scones.
She also happily suffers a coffee and chocolate addiction which causes her to
visit her favorite store, The Chocolate
Fetish often.
She can most often be found at her computer,
spinning new tales, or in a quiet padded nook with her e reader happily
engrossed in a new story. Leave Your Hat On is based, in part, on a wild idea
conceived during a Skype chat with fellow authors while the Joe Cocker song,
'You Can Leave Your Hat On' was playing.
Blurb-
It's Alice in Wonderland themed night at the
local strip club where the Matron of Honor decided to have Ailis' sister's
bachelorette party. So not only are Ailis and the rest of the ladies are
dressed up as Wonderland characters, but the strippers costumes are leaving
nothing to the imagination. Could anything be worse for shy, bookish Ailis?
Trying to leave the wild 'fun' behind, Ailis
stumbles into a secluded room and meets a sexy stranger in a familiar tagged
hat. It's not long before their flirty banter becomes downright suggestive and
the party heats up. But when Mr. Hatter is called away and Ailis flees the
club, is this the end of the story? Or will there be another surprise down the
rabbit hole for Ailis?
Book excerpt-
She jerked upright as the deep voice washed over her and squinted
in the dim lighting, trying to find who had spoken. One small door stood in the
opposite wall; no other furniture filled the room. "I'm… I'm sorry; I
believed this might be the ladies room. Please forgive the intrusion."
A soft chuckle caressed her skin. "The ladies room is the next
door down. I admit I'm rather pleased by your misguided sense of direction though…
Alice. Perhaps you didn't listen carefully enough to the caterpillar?"
Ailis picked at the flimsy white pinafore and felt her face flame.
She jumped to her feet. "I'll just go and let you get back to whatever it
is you're doing."
"What's your hurry?" He moved forward to stop within an
arm's reach of her. Ailis tilted her head and felt her eyes grow wide. He wore
a tuxedo, all black from head to toe. His curly dark hair peaked from under a
tall top hat with the familiar tag '10/6'. His eyes caused her breath to hitch:
light blue, thickly lashed, and staring at her with a combination of lust and
humor. "We've not even been introduced."
Ailis
swallowed and shook her head. "I don't belong here. And you're about to go
on stage from what I hear."
He
chuckled again, the sound rich and deep. "Shall I play Mad Hatter for you,
little Alice?"
If he continued
to use the made-for-sin tone, he could play anything he wanted with her, Ailis
thought then immediately cringed. She'd definitely had too much to drink if she
fancied… something with this stranger. "I should really just leave."
He took
her hand and raised it to his lips. The brush of his warm mouth and soft breath
made her heart race. "Ah, love, you now have me booked for the
evening."
