Kate got to her knees on the living room floor and tied the red scarf around her head to blindfold herself.

"You are perfectly safe," her Master said, and Kate felt herself literally melting at the deep confident assurance in his voice.

She nodded, not trusting herself to speak.

More footsteps. Kate sensed him walking around her, as if he was inspecting his new property. She straightened her back.
"You are beautiful," he said. By the sound of his voice, Kate knew he was standing close behind her. She stayed silent, and now he was here, now it was all really happening... her mind was blank. Her whole focus was on the sound of his voice and the sense of him being near her.

A healthy Master/submissive relationship is not very different from a regular relationship! That might surprise a lot of people, but the fact is that ALL strong, long-term relationships rely on the same few key elements to survive; Love and Trust. A BDSM relationship certainly relies on trust... but then so does a regular relationship! And the best BDSM relationships are loving, caring ones.... just like regular relationships! What really sets a BDSM relationship apart from the regular ones we might enjoy in our own lives is the distinction between the roles. Most relationships might be mutual in every way, whereas a submissive CHOOSES to submit to their Master. This submission might manifest itself in who makes the decisions between the couple, as well as the nature of their sexual relationship.

Writing about BDSM and dominant men who interact with submissive women is a challenge for any writer who doesn’t know their subject - or what makes people tick. I have been very fortunate to be able to draw on the experiences of several real life Masters, and many women who live their lives as actual submissives.

It is that research that makes my stories so realistic, so relatable, and so accurate. My stories, such as Her Master’s Voice, and Her Master’s Kiss have earned high praise from authorities within the BDSM community for their accuracy - it is acclaim that I am immensely proud of.

Review:

This book grabbed me on the first page and was a titillating read. Viv is totally right. The dynamics of BDSM are all about love and trust. I found this book to be very spot on when it came to emotional responses, especially when Kate's new Master called her on the phone and began giving her direction. *shivers* I could completely imagine the scene in my head and the story just took off from there. Balancing "real life" with a BDSM relationship has its challenges and Kate will have to navigate a few of those as the story unfolds. 

One thing did strike me overall and that is you don't need anything but voice and intent to stir the blood and author Vivien Sparx does a wonderful job showing us just how its done.

Great read and smoking hot!

But we all respond.

And that’s the true joy of writing erotic romance. It matters not so much how you respond as you read… it matters only that you do respond. If a writer can engage you and make you feel, then the story’s journey is one well worth taking.

What I Liked:

I enjoyed the sassy reporter being taken in hand by the oh so seductive Dom. The chemistry between Tabytha and Harlan was oil and water. The sex scenes were great and the interplay between the characters in the club was fun. She is a reporter with a fiery temper and he is a Dom that is used to getting his way. Very hot. 

What I Didn't:

By the end of the book, even I was ready to duct tape Tabytha's mouth shut. She slung curse words like no tomorrow. Whew! He also kept calling her Tabby Cat. I would have bit him in the leg, myself. Just sayin.

Overall:

I enjoyed the tension between Harlan and Tabytha. The reporter being at the BDSM club was fun, especially when she witnessed the show. (no spoilers!!) Harlan was a masterful Dom, but I think I would have gagged her with all the curse words that flowed out of her mouth. Ball gag please! The sexual tension was good and I can't wait to read more from this author!

This book was a great addition to the Brie series. I loved the rope play and how Brie embraced the intricate world of bondage. It was a delight that I savored. Her surrender to her Doms in this book was beautiful and I had a hard time waiting for the next one.

What I Didn't:

It ended. *cried*

Overall:

The rope work and Brie's journey into bondage was epic. I am fascinated by decorative rope play and after reading this book, I hunger for more. Red has done it again. I am her devoted fan. Kinbaku and Shibari are very interesting and so very elegant. Brie also has a daunting choice-to choose between two masters. Oh the suspense! I love it!

Loved it. MORE!!!! (Should I elaborate...) I love Brie for her adventurous spirit and her willingness to stand for what is right, even in the face of danger. Red Phoenix has crafted a series that has become one of my absolute favorites. If you enjoy BDSM novellas, then you simply must check out this amazing series.
