Another Gift to Remember: A Visit with Diane Thorne

1. How did you start writing erotic romance?
I like challenges. I'd read several erotic romances and thought I could try to write one. So, a few years ago, I had an idea for a series. It's part paranormal and part contemporary. Siren picked it up. I love the premise and it has good reviews. Once I gained confidence that I could write erotic romance I decided to write other stories not related to the one with Siren.
2. Plotter or pantster?

I'm a good mixture of both. I come up with a basic plot then fill in the details as I go along.
3. What are three things you have on your writing desk?

gum, water, sticky notes
4. Favorite food?

Seafood, specifically, ocean scallops. Yum.
5. Tell us a little about your new release. What character in the book really spoke to you?

My latest release is called Another Gift to Remember. It's the second novella in the Memorable Gifts series. Thomas and Andy are partners in a marketing firm and they've been friends since college. Andy's big 40th birthday is coming up and Thomas has the perfect gift idea. The story is a contemporary erotic romance with two men and two women.
6. I write because ____...

I write because I enjoy it. I have stories in my head and want to share them with others. Putting my thoughts into words and sharing them is fun for me. I like it. I hope readers enjoy the stories.
7. What is your favorite type of character to write about?

For a woman, I like her to be strong but flawed. For a man, pretty much the same, but I like him to be bold and daring. Fearless too, except for one thing…the woman he wants. He will do anything for her.
8. What is the sexiest scene you ever wrote?

Wow, it's difficult to choose one. I have two, one involving food and the other takes place on a plane. The scenes are in different stories.
9. What advice would you give new authors in the erotica/romance field?

Write what you love and write every day. Don't give up. If you enjoy writing, then keep writing. And keep reading too.
10. What is next on your writerly horizon?
I have five or six short stories coming out this year with another publisher. The series is called Diary of a Free Woman. I'm on a break for a while and haven't decided what to write next.

Book Blurb:

Thomas Barrett has it all. He's a part owner of a marketing firm with his best friend of twenty years, Andy. In addition to a successful career, Thomas enjoys the love of two beautiful women, his wife, Lynn, and his assistant, Carol. He couldn't be happier with life.

Tasked with finding a gift idea for Andy's fortieth birthday, Thomas comes up with a perfect one. Not only will it please Andy, Thomas is certain his idea will provide great pleasure to Lynn and Carol. Thomas wants his favorite naughty women to bring Andy into their love nest. But will Lynn and Carol be willing to have sex with Thomas's best friend? Better yet, can Andy maintain a working and sexual relationship with them?

EXCERPT:

Smiling, Lynn faced her husband. "Carol and I have agreed to express ourselves freely tonight. We want you to do the same. Anything is acceptable."
Thomas's brows shot up. "What does that mean?"
"It means we're not holding back, and neither should you," Carol said.
She turned to face Lynn and placed her hand on the side of Lynn's face. Leaning toward her, Carol brought Lynn's mouth to meet hers. Lynn kissed her back and slid her tongue between Carol's lips. Heat swirled within Carol while her loins ached for attention. She clenched her thighs. Gently and tenderly, Carol played with Lynn's tongue but she held control of the urges steadily rising within her. The night was young and she wanted to take plenty of time to play later. She pried her mouth from Lynn's, then they both smiled and looked at Thomas.
"If you want to kiss or touch Carol, then do it. I won't stop you, nor will I stop her," Lynn said. "If I want to kiss and touch Carol, I will."
He stared at them with wide eyes. "I can't believe what I'm hearing. I can't believe I just watched my wife kiss my assistant."
"That was nothing compared to our kiss earlier in the week," Carol said.
"You kissed before?"
"We did," Lynn said.
"Are you feeling okay, honey? Are you on any new medication?"
"I feel better than I have in a long time, Thomas. This is your birthday. I want you to enjoy it, and so should I."
He clasped his hands tight in front of his groin while he moved his legs together, then apart. "This is too strange."
"Don't be nervous, dear. Carol and I aren’t." Lynn shifted her gaze to Carol. "Are we?"
"I'm comfortable. Well, my thong is a bit wet, but I'll manage."
"See." Lynn smiled. "Now relax and enjoy your birthday. And don't hold back Thomas. I know you want to touch Carol."
Thomas leaned his head back against the seat and rubbed his eyes with his palms. "I'm dreaming. You put something in my wine and now I'm seeing things."
Carol sighed and looked at Lynn. "This could be a long night."

"He'll catch on. Give him some time."
