Sexy smartass fun with BDSM
The Dom with a Safeword is out early. This is a contemporary
Mff romance. Though there is a ghost element to this story it’s pretty firmly
set in reality, in New Jersey. I co-authored this one with 2 other authors.
I wrote the Dom, Jude. Leia Shaw wrote the innocent
submissive, Sabrina, who is new to both BDSM and girl on girl. And Sorcha Black
wrote the bisexual switch Q, who hates her real name and rarely tells it.
Here’s what the book’s about:
Late at night, on an amateur ghost hunt, Sabrina and her
best friend Q are caught trespassing by the gorgeous, blonde Jude. The embers
of attraction between them sizzle when they discover Jude’s kinks match their
own. Jude is a Dom on his last summer of freedom before starting the prison
sentence that is med school. Q is a badass bi switch who knows what she wants,
and for years it’s been her cute, doe-eyed straight friend Sabrina. But the
only way for Q into Sabrina’s heart and panties may be with Jude’s fist wrapped
in her hair.
Domming the bratty Q and mischievous Sabrina isn’t going to
be easy but Jude relishes the challenge. At the end of the summer, will they
find a way to stay together when everything is tearing them apart?
So as you can see, we have, not one, but two brats in this
story. Here’s Jude:
“So… what
methods have failed to teach you manners?”
She was relieved
by the change in subject, but had no plans to give him ammunition. “Hmmm. Most.
Brats are notoriously hard to teach.” Q took a sip of her coffee, but watched
him closely. Time to see if this one was up to the challenge or if he’d bolt.
Jude’s face lit
up. “I have a soft spot for brats. So you’re a brat switch?”
“Yes,” she said,
surprised. “A brat switch. A veritable social pariah in the fet world. You don’t
have a hate-on for girls like me?”
“Not a hate-on, no.” He winked and Q got caught
in the wave of a full on, hot-faced blush.
There was an
awkward silence as she floundered for something to say that wasn’t tie me up and make me your bitch. He
smirked and waited, like toying with her was amusing. It made her submissive
side go straight into overdrive.
She dropped her
gaze and waited.
“Have you had a
Dom?”
This story’s characters are based loosely on people we know
and their relationships. One of the things we wanted to do with this book was
to make sure there was a hearty dose of humor and fun woven in. Because really,
who doesn’t see some fun in the world at some time? Sex should be enjoyable, and
hell, BDSM too, however you get your kicks. A lot of Doms in fiction seem to have
lost their funny bone somewhere down the back of the couch. Hence Jude was born.
The man knows how to have fun and how to, mostly, keep up with two of the
brattiest brats around. And if he misses the punishment mark sometimes, he
makes them pay for it later, if he remembers. He’s fair yet not infallible.
The story isn’t at all slapstick and silly though, and
there’s a lot of sadness toward the end. We hope it makes for a great balance.
I’ll leave you with a quote from a beta reader, and then an excerpt.
"I ended up feeling part of the story, personally
invested in the different characters. I can't even say how much I loved the
book it is funny, heart-warming and intense all at the same time. The sex/play
scenes are out of this world good."
Excerpt:
“Fuck,” he said, awestruck. “Holy hell.” He bit her neck,
once, twice, sinking his teeth in and not releasing her for a few seconds,
though she whimpered. Then he pulled out and unglued his fingers from her hips.
The view down below, as he withdrew, made him admire
Sabrina’s curves.
“Your ass would sink a thousand ships, girl.” The quiet
giggle from Q and shake of Sabrina’s shoulders made him rethink. “And launch
them too.”
After he’d released the rope from the wrist cuffs, they
were still giggling.
“You’re both on probation.” The burst of more giggling
just left him shaking his head. He swept Sabrina into his arms.
Coyly, she shook out her hair and hung onto his
shoulders. “Where are you taking me, fair prince, to the shower?”
“No.” He hefted her higher, and paced toward the couch.
“Over here. You haven’t forgotten your promise?”
“Umm. No. But I’m all sweaty and icky though. We both
are. We want a shower, don’t we, Q?”
“Uh-uh. No shower. Not yet. I like you all sweaty. You’re
tastier.” He paused to kiss her deeply, before setting her down at the front of
the couch. A blanket he’d put next to the couch went over it. When he pointed
to the floor, Q followed suit and kneeled next to Sabrina. “I want to see what
my pet can do to my switch.”
Q eyed him a little suspiciously.
What’s your opinion of BDSM in romance fiction? Do you
like some humor or would you rather the tone of these stories be darker? I know
with some of the darker themes humor would not work as well unless you wrote it
in very carefully. But in our story it fitted the people so well. Without it
Jude wouldn’t have had half as much fun!
