Beyond Fairytales Blog Hop and Giveaway!

Hello everyone and welcome to the Beyond Fairytales Blog Hop! My name is Erzabet Bishop and I have just released my first book called Club Beam. It is the beginning of my Shadow World series with more on the way very soon.

Blurb:
In the Shadow World, nothing is as it seems.
Detective Sydney Marr is having a very bad day. Her boss is on the warpath, she’s being treated for a werewolf bite, and her current case has hit a dead end. When her friend Erika talks Syd into going with her to Club Beam, she jumps at the chance, even if it means spending an evening without her spell arsenal. A high-class vampire bar and fetish club, Club Beam is fantasy made real.

Club owner and Dom Gideon Raines spies the red-haired beauty and is transfixed. A fight against a skillful murderer brings war for fae and vampire alike. Sometimes when you play with monsters, the monsters play back.

The Process and Inspiration of Club Beam:

This book is dedicated to all of my readers. Writing under the Beyond Fairy Tales line and the creation of the Shadow World series was both fun and a challenge. When I was presented with the fairy tale "The Beam" I had to really think about how I wanted to portray the story. For those of you not familiar with the tale, it is a short piece about a woman who shows up a wizard and proves him to be a fraud. He gets his revenge in a very public way. How could I take this story and twist it into an urban fantasy setting and add a little kink to boot? I wanted a strong female character that could handle herself in a conflict, but still dealt with her own insecurities. Could she stand up to the opposing force in the story and somehow come out swinging? You bet.

Sydney is a fun and feisty heroine both witchy and quirky. Gideon is the perfect vampire alpha male Dom to curl her toes. Club Beam is a place of magic and mystery, where the Red Door overlooks the fun and frivolity of the main club floor. Fairy tales are for real here and some of them bite…and hard. The club is a refuge for vampire, fae and other mythical creatures; it is also a lure of many decadent delights.

The process of writing for me is an organic one. It begins with a legal pad and a series of colorful sticky notes and a foam board. I start thinking about the chapters and what needs to happen to make the story move and there you go-plot points on sticky notes I can move around as needed. It works too. Sydney had lots of thoughts on where she wanted to go and believe me, she is still in there talking. The second book in the Shadow World series is already writing itself (think dragon shifters and a psychic) and I can see the fireworks shaping up nicely.

Stay tuned for a short story featuring Sydney in the upcoming Sci Spanks event (https://www.facebook.com/scispanks?fref=ts). You might just get invited for a session behind the Red Door. Master Gideon has a paddle and he’s ready to play.

I hope you will enjoy the introduction to my Shadow World series and return to Club Beam for many more adventures.

Excerpt:
“Once upon a time….” Erika sang and waggled her eyebrows. “Come on, Sydney. Live a little. This club is smoking hot, and you’ll love it.”
Sydney grumbled under her breath and watched the club-goers parade past, each dressed like a fairy-tale character. The Little Mermaid trounced by in a see-through, diaphanous gown revealing too much in the way of personal attributes. Sleeping Beauty sashayed down the sidewalk with a leash around the neck of her Prince Charming. A woman in a way-too-short Red Riding Hood outfit approached. Her arm was wrapped around a seductress dressed in wolf ears, a tail, and a skimpy thong-style bikini. Red carried a basket full of what looked like pink fuzzy handcuffs and a can of whipped cream, which she swung into Syd.
“Hey!”
The red-cloaked vixen sent her a wink and traipsed on by, joined by a near-pornographic version of the Red Queen from Alice in Wonderland. Any shorter and the skirt would show her naughty bits. Or maybe that was the plan.
Syd had just gotten off her day shift as a detective, and the last thing she wanted to do was be around more people. Especially people with more skin showing than on late-night cable shows. Her head hurt from the lights and the pulse of the music, and her stupid witch costume was pinching her toes. Erika’s scant fairy costume hugged all her curves, her breasts bursting from the bodice. The skirt barely covered her backside, and the strappy silver sandals showed off her silver-glitter nail polish.
The building loomed next to them. A giant warehouse-like structure, it was large enough to house all manner of mischief, and Syd was itching with the desire to get inside and find out just what was going on behind its doors. The sidewalk was flagged by trees lit up with twinkly white lights, adding an upscale ambiance to the area. What in the daylight looked like an industrial area gone to the dogs had been transformed into an attractive and well-attended venue.
She didn’t have the heart to tell Erika she’d been here once already today for the case she was working on, but the entrance had been sealed up tighter than a drum. Sydney’s recourse was to infiltrate Club Beam by night as a patron. Her sergeant, Debra, would kill her if she realized Syd had even considered going in without backup. So would her partner, James. Erika had asked her to come so she wouldn’t be alone, and, despite herself, Syd couldn’t resist. To catch a vampire, you had to go out at night, and Club Beam was the hot spot. After last month’s fuckup, she had to do this and do it right, even if it killed her. James was on medical leave, and it remained up to her to get this guy before someone else got killed or turned furry.
I will not think about becoming one of the terminally furry. It’s over. Move on. Take the pills the doctor gave you and freaking pray.
“Oh look. I think I see Snow White.” Erika stood on her tiptoes and craned her head along the huge expanse of line they still had to navigate to get inside.
Syd peered into the crowd and grimaced. Hairy legs. More makeup than a Mac commercial. “Nope. That was a guy in drag.”
Erika narrowed her eyes. “God, Syd. You’re the world’s biggest wet blanket ever.”
Sydney shifted her weight and moved another two steps toward the door as the line inched forward. “I told you, I’ve had a hard day. We had a homicide case come in, and I’ve been out beating the street. I want to go home and bury my head under my pillow. But, no. Out of the kindness of my heart, here I am standing in line at a vampire bar with a bunch of overgrown kids playing dress-up in fairy-tale fetish wear.”

Thanks for joining me for the blog hop today. Question for readers: What kinds of fairy tales and modern myths make you swoon? Do you read BBW in fairytales? Would you?

For a chance to win a copy of Club Beam, I'd love to hear your thoughts. I also have up for grabs a copy of the Lucky Stars box set if you can tell me what BBW romance would make you melt.

One Night with the Bridal Party: One Night With Her Husband Spotlight and Giveaway

Sometimes, all it takes is one night…

Revisiting first loves, creating second chances, and confronting the past are only part of the journey. A 1Night Stand sets the stage for happily ever after… or ultimate heartbreak.

One Night With Her Husband is the newest release and the fifth of six books in the One Night with the Bridal Party series.

She walked away from her marriage seven years ago...
Marcia Johnson always assumed her husband would follow her eventually. She’d achieve success while she waited and prove her decision the right one. But when he finally turns up, she’s not ready. Her career hangs in the balance, and her weight has skyrocketed. How can she face the man she loves and show him she made the right choice? Especially when he’s matured from a decent-looking college student into the sexiest man she’s ever seen.

He’s waited seven years for his wife to finally need him…

If Adrian Torres can save her business, maybe he’ll have a shot at saving their marriage. But the woman he finds is too competent and independent to ask him for help. She even shrugs off his touch instead of reacting with the desire he hoped to ignite. Have the embers of their marriage finally died? Is it time to end their relationship and move forward?

He wants a divorce…
Her world ripped apart, Marcia turns to 1Night Stand to give her one more night before she lets Adrian go. She dares not hope for more. Even Madame Eve couldn’t have the magic to save their neglected disaster of a relationship…could she?

Excerpt:

For better or worse, he would not live the rest of his life in a suspended, married-but-not-married state.

“I’m sorry I shocked you with my presence.” He wasn’t sorry for surprising her, but he regretted how unwelcome his surprise had been.

She swiped at her eyes and began rummaging in the glove compartment. “You have my phone number. You could have warned me you were coming.”

His chest tightened. “Those stiff, formal calls don’t change anything, except suck away my soul. I needed to shake things up.”

“So you decided to burst in during the biggest business crisis I’ve ever faced?” She extracted a pack of tissues from the compartment and mopped her beautiful face. “I hope you have a better strategy to save my company, or we’re doomed.”

With the pressure to convince her to believe in him more intense than during his meeting with Mr. Gladstone, he crouched next to her seat. “While we work together to fix Sunburst’s crisis, we have a chance to bridge the distance between us, too.”

Mouth gaping, she met his gaze again. “Your idea of bridging the distance is to ambush me in my own conference room and then introduce yourself like we’re freaking strangers?”

Failure tasted metallic and bitter in his mouth. In his plans, he’d skipped straight to wowing her with his marketing prowess. He hadn’t considered he’d upset her so much she wouldn’t stick around to listen to his spiel. “No, I played my ace card. You put your trust in Gladstone PR. I made myself the face of Gladstone so we’d have enough common business interests that you wouldn’t immediately kick me out of your personal life.”

Marcia squeezed the steering wheel until her knuckles turned white. “I don’t have time to think about anything personal right now, and I certainly can’t let my employees see me as an emotional wreck. They’re counting on me to lead them with a solid plan.”

Business and her career didn’t just come first in her heart. They owned her whole heart. Adrian had been a fool to lose sight of that. Burying his own hurt and frustration, he said, “I have a beautiful plan for the company. We’ll put it in action together.” Afterward, he’d have to decide if he could handle coming in a distant second place with her for the rest of his life. “Trust me.”

She stared at the steering wheel for a long time before turning to him. “I have to. You’re my only hope.”

Behind the Scenes of Her Master’s Gift

Her Master’s Gift was inspired by the idea of moving beyond fears, and of doing something new and scary and exciting. A lot of the interactions and events are based on things that I’ve had experience with, and in general on what I saw in the Lifestyle community I was involved with at the time.

Every BDSM-based relationship is different. Not every one of them will involve more than two people in a relationship. For me, pretty much all of my relationships have involved multiple partners, either temporarily or on a more permanent basis. Right now, I consider myself monogamous with options, but in the past I’ve been involved in polyamorous relationships of various configurations, as well as play partner dynamics that ran the gamut from play-only to sex-only.

The concept of that freedom, to explore sexually, and sexuality, is really fun for me, and also quite normal in my life. So when I write, the idea that more than two people might be involved depends on the characters, but isn’t automatically out of the question.

Now, Katie is mostly monogamous, but she’s an explorer as well. She’s very devoted, but also full of curiosity and wants to try out everything from the safety of a protective relationship. Sam wants to give her what she wants, though he’s not completely unselfish in his desires. I mean, we’re all selfish to some extent, but if she hadn’t really wanted and needed to explore this aspect of her sexuality, and to face her fear, Sam wouldn’t have pushed for that, or pushed for it in exactly the same way.

And Jeanie! Jeanie was a really nifty character to get to know. She’s enthusiastic, unashamed, and quite skilled on both ends of the flogger, so to speak. But, she’s also faced her own relationship issues, and being emotionally involved beyond friendship and fun is something that scares her. So her connection to Katie has a basis in similar pain, even if their fears come from different places.

Her Master’s Gift was inspired by concepts like fear and freedom, but the characters are what really fleshed it out. They led me on a merry chase, exploring themselves and each other. It’s what I love most about this story, and what I look forward to exploring more in the future with Jeanie’s tale.

About the author:

In the beginning was the word.
And the word was kinky.
Well, wait a minute. Kinky, painful, dark, delicious, and playful. Those are the five adjectives to describe Dena Celeste’s erotic romance.
She is a pansexual chick from the Southeast United States who has participated in BDSM and its community for well over a decade now. The pleasure of her lifestyle is highly enhanced by the muse she has in her husband.
It’s important to state the experience of her lifestyle because she can and she will fool you with her sweet wide-eyed expressions. The halo sits rather comfortably on her head, but beneath it is a brain that explores the darker edges of physical and mental experiences. Her writing reflects the beautifully sinister nature of pain and pleasure, and how they can be woven together to maximum effect.
This erotic romance writer intends to share many tales of living and playing in the Lifestyle in which her characters participate. Oh, and do their dreams come true, in the seductive fantasy worlds that Dena weaves.
In the end was the word.
And the word was satisfied.

One Night in Dublin

The Importance Of Senses
Kemberlee Shortland

When I say senses, what comes to mind first? Sight? Sound? Smell, taste, and touch? You’d be right. But what about the others? Did you know there are actually more than twenty senses? There are, and they’re broken down into two categories: exteroception and interoception.

Exteroceptive senses include the basic five senses: sight, sound, scent, taste, and touch, as defined by Aristotle. As the name implies, it refers to external senses.

But have you ever heard of interoceptive senses? Those refer to internal senses. Here are a few to ponder:

Proprioception – While exteroceptors are responsible for information from outside the body such as the eyes, ears, mouth, and skin, and interoceptors give information about the internal organs, proprioception is awareness of movement derived from muscular, tendon, and articular sources. It is the sense of the relative position of neighboring parts of the body. It also indicates whether the body is moving with required effort. Proprioreceptors are sometimes known as adequate stimuli receptors.

A great example of proprioception in action is the field sobriety test. Stand with your arms out to your sides, close your eyes, and with your finger, try touching the tip of your nose. Easy enough when you’re sober; not so easy when you’re inebriated.

An easy way to remember this one is to think of proprioception as to propel or move.

Kinaesthesia – This sense is, in a way, linked to proprioception. Kinaesthesia places a greater sense on motion through muscle, tendon, and articular sensitivity, such as increased heart rate or adrenaline. Consciously, one is unaware that these things are happening, but internal senses (the subconscience) that require additional movement will automatically trigger the receptors into action.

For anyone familiar with kinetics or kinesis, the Greek kinesis means movement and esthesia means awareness, therefore kinaesthesia is a sense of movement. The opposite of kinaesthesia is anesthesia, which is the cessation of movement. Anesthesia in the operating room is a term for a chemical that works by putting our body and mind to sleep for a short time so invasive procedures can be performed. Without it, some of the following senses would take over, which could be harmful to ones health!

Nociception – Also called nociperception, this sense allows us to feel pain and suffering. When we say something hurts, how does it hurt? Nociception sense tells us. But this sense has a threshold. Very little stimulus is required to sense pain, but once the threshold is crossed and we experience excruciating pain, it becomes hyperalgesia—hyper meaning excessive or over and above norms.

Equilibrioception – This sense is controlled by the inner ear and helps us walk straight. When one or both ears are damaged in some way, temporarily or permanently, it will affect how we move and behave. Other things to affect our sense of balance are weightlessness, seasickness, even a cold, all of which can, in turn, make us nauseous, which is one of the side effects of being off balance for too long. Equilibrioception occurs most often when we go on amusement park rides, on a boat, in the car, or anything else that puts us off balance. Some of us behave better when unbalanced for long periods of time and adjust quickly to the movement. But for those who get seasick or have motion sickness, it’s because their inner balance is harder to correct.

And easy way to remember equilibrioception is to remember equilibri is the first part of equilibrium...balance.

Thermoception – As thermo suggestions, this sense allows us to feel temperature differences, and is largely done by the skin. If you put your hand in a bucket of ice, thermoception tells us it’s extremely cold so we can react accordingly by taking out our hand. Walking across hot coals is an extreme test of endurance. In order to do that, we must disrupt our thermoceptors so we don’t feel the pain.

Magnetoception – Magnet/Magneto refers to the ability to detect direction, altitude, and/or location. This sense is most especially seen in migratory animals, especially birds and butterflies. And claims have been made that it’s magnetoception that allows animals to develop regional maps in their heads. For example: deer follow the same path through the forest. Even when the forest is destroyed and a house is built in the middle of the original path, deer will leap shrubs and tear down fences in order to complete the path in their ingrained memories. Magnetoception is also common in humans who have a ‘good sense of direction.’ Consider a magnetic compass. It’s a simple device that uses a small magnet and a needle to detect north. Like a magnetic compass, an internal or natural compass helps us with direction.

Sense of Time – Although the sense of time is not associated with a specific sensory system, the work of scientists indicate that human brains have a system governing the perception of time. An example would be when our internal body clock wakes us at the same time every day.

Intuition – Have you ever just known something? Have you ever felt someone looking at you? Or have you even sensed when someone was in the room but didn’t hear them enter? We call this a gut feeling. Intuition provides us with beliefs we can’t necessarily justify.

And the list goes on. Why have I talked about these senses rather than the basic five as defined by Aristotle? Because we all already know them. Sitting at your computer you experience sight to read this article, touch by using your mouse to scroll the page, hearing if you have music playing in the background, taste and smell if you’re enjoying a snack while you read. But how many of the other senses have you experienced or related to while reading this, or going about your daily routine?

How many programs do you watch with characters who use some of these senses?

- Patrick Jane of ‘The Mentalist’ does his job through intuition.
- Xander Cage from ‘xXx’ has a great sense of equilibrioception—as an adrenaline junkie this is important since he jumps out of planes, leaps off bridges, and drives at incredible speeds. And he probably has a high sense of proprioception, kinaesthesia and magnetoception.
- Tony Stark from ‘Iron Man’ has a great sense of magnetoception. Flying around the world to save people, you’d want to know where you’re going.
- Johnny Storm, aka The Human Torch from ‘Fantastic Four,’ controls his thermoreceptors when he’s on fire.
- Superman, the ultimate hero, uses many of these senses we’ve talked about here today, including thermoreceptors to keep him warm in his ‘Fortress of Solitude’ at the North Pole!

It’s important to mention these other senses, especially within a writing context. Has your hero been shot? He’s probably going to be in a lot of pain if he’s conscious. That’s nociception. And it’s intuition that tells the heroine which way to run for help.

Have you used any of these senses in your writing in the past? If so, how so? And if you haven’t, how will you use them in your writing now that you know more about them?

Blurb:

At her mother’s prompting (nagging) about grandchildren, Sive wonders if it really is time to settle down. She’s just finishing college so she should be thinking about her future. But is she ready to settle down? Is she ready for kids? And more importantly, which of the three men she’s been seeing does she want to spend the rest of her life with?

Sive has a choice to make, and only 24 hours in which to make it.

Extract:

Choices.
We all make them. From the moment we wake up, it's: “do I get out of bed now or hit the snooze button . . . again?” “shall I wear this outfit to work or that one?” “tea and toast or grab something on the way?”
It's all mundane bullshit. They’re all choices we make on the fly without even realizing we're making them.
Think about it. What choices do you make when you’re not thinking about them? Like going home from work. You get on the train, find a seat and wait for your stop. But when you get there, you wonder how the hell you got there because you don’t remember making the journey.
What I’m trying to say is that we often go on auto-pilot and just do what needs doing without any real thought, because there are usually more pressing things to think about—the important things.  Or seemingly so. Like, what movie to see, what restaurant to eat in, where to go on holidays . . . and for some girls, this pair of sensible shoes on sale or another pair not on sale but immensely sexier?
For me, today, my choices aren't so mundane, and they’ll require a lot of conscious thought. I have an important decision to make. One that could change my life forever, pardon the clichĂ©.
They—whoever 'they' are—say there is someone for everyone, that we all have a 'type' of person we're attracted to. I'm still figuring it all out . . . exploring to see what is my type . . . that someone just for me. And it doesn’t help that my mum’s voice is in the back of my head, asking . . . i.e. nagging (yes, I just said i.e.) . . . when I’m going to settle down and give her grandkids.
First, let me say this: I'm not a slut. I'm not loose, I don't carelessly sleep around, and I don't do one-night stands. I just love men and all of their vast differences.
What can I say about my boys that every other woman out there doesn’t already know about men? Charmers, every one of them. But they all give me something I need.
Tonight I need to decide what, or who, I need the most—Fitzy, Moss, or Sully.

The characters in “Limbo” experience the ultimate erotic connection thanks to dangerous and addictive out-of-body technology. D&S Duos Book 4 also includes bonus story “Blind Obedience” and a transgressive excerpt from Lisabets erotic thriller Bangkok Noir.

Naughty Excerpt
I raise my arm, suddenly strong. The whip swishes through the air, snaps and makes a perfect landing on her right cheek. A bright red line stitches across her creamy flesh. My cock throbs in response to her pitiful wail. Taking a deep breath, I land a powerful stroke on her other globe and survey its reddening wake.

Mariah chokes back her cry of pain.

"Are you all right, Mariah? Is it too much?"

"No, sir," she whispers. "Not at all."

She wants this. She wants me to whip her, to push her to the limit and beyond. I bring the singletail down hard on her quivering flesh. She moans and jerks in her bonds as I paint her ass with a brilliant lattice of scarlet stripes.

I slash at her with the whip, again and again, focused and untiring. I'm in control now. I can see exactly where each stroke will land. Every so often I snap the tip against the base of the plug, making it vibrate inside her. Mariah yells and thrashes about on the bed. I don't need to ask how she is. I can sense it. She's here with me, deep in the moment, giving her all.

My cock torments me, swollen and aching. All at once I just have to be inside her.

The whip clatters to the floor. I kneel behind her raised buttocks, grab her hips and ram my rigid dick into her cunt. She's hot as a furnace, wet as rain. She arches her back to give me better access. I can feel the bulk of the plug, narrowing her already tight channel. My fingernails dig into the scored flesh of her ass. I know the pain only amplifies her pleasure. Each thrust bangs against the base of the plug, forcing it deeper into her bowels.

Mariah loves it. I know she does. I remember the first time I took her in the ass, not long after we mether ecstasy and my wonder, that she could trust me so much, so soon. I contemplate wrenching out the plug and replacing it with my cock, but her pussy just feels too damn good. She might be a motheralmost a grandmotherbut Mariah's still sleek and tight, muscular and eager, everything a man could desire.

I fuck her as hard as I can, as hard as she wants. She opens to me completely. I'm amazed and humbled by her submissionnot at all like the stern Dom I'm supposed to be. I want to take her to her peak before I let go, but I can't keep control any more. Jizz surges up my stalk and floods her pussy while a wave of pleasure sweeps me away.

I rock against her as the convulsions recede. She massages my softening cock with her inner muscles, milking the last drops of cum. She hasn't reached her own climax, I realizethen I understand. She won't come until I give her permission.
