Naked Nights: Capture Fantasy by Vonna Harper

Submit to a man? Never. Or so jockey Marina believes until the day former football player Tray kidnaps her and takes her to a Carnal training facility. No longer free, she must bow to Tray’s determination and strength. Must accept the harsh yet arousing training regimen designed to turn her into a true submissive.

Tray spent years being viewed as a piece of healthy, powerful meat. Now it’s his turn to dominate. Teaching the lovely trainee to embrace a new way of life excites and challenges him. He will change her! Make her his.

They begin as strangers, one dominant, the other a helpless captive. Will Marina continue to see Tray as her captor or will he become something more? Something that transforms both of them.

Naked Nights was briefly titled Submission's Ride.

Capture fantasy can be a very misunderstood part of the erotic community. Especially with all of the horrors on the news today, it can really bother some readers and I understand why. There are a number of reasons for this, from my humble point of view. Most people want their erotica/romance to be consensual. Some capture fantasies are not. Forcible sex is also included and many women (myself included) have issues with rape on the whole. Here is the thing: capture fantasy is just that...a fantasy.

In Naked Nights a jockey is taken from her home and forcibly enslaved. She is taken to a school for slave training and made to learn how to survive in a world that caters to a Master/slave scenario. This type of book is not for everyone, but I enjoyed the read.

Marina has been targeted by wealthy men at the racetrack to become a sexual slave. She is taken by a pair of men, set to train with Tray, a man new at the game of domination. At times, I found his bickering with his trainer a bit on the annoying side, but it did not overly detract from the reading experience. Marina fights her situation but gradually learns to accept her submissiveness and the book has a very nice ending that I enjoyed.

If you liked The Marketplace series and were a fan of the Brie series, you very well may enjoy this book. It does have a kidnapping scene, slave training, BDSM themes and some very sexy overtones with a fantasy Master/slave theme. Again, this scenario would never work in the real world. But it works as a sexy fantasy read for those of us who enjoy a little darkness with the light.

A Taste of London: Erotica for Men

Ryan Stonebridge and his friend Kristian Hurst are heading off on the trip of a lifetime. They’re spending their gap year traveling the world and expect lots of sun, sights and sex. The guys have a couple of days in the English capital before catching the Eurostar to Paris. Unfortunately, a family emergency means that Kristian has to head back home for a while, leaving Ryan to continue the trip alone.

Luckily for Ryan, he’s an attractive guy and there is no shortage of gorgeous women available to help take his mind off Kristian’s family drama.

This line of erotica is for men. Really. In the style of Lucy Felthouse, the lusty thoughts of Ryan come alive as Ryan tours the sights of London and has an uplifting time foraging under women's skirts. While this story didn't connect with me as a female reader, I am sure any college age boy would be right there with Ryan, leering at all the girls and wondering what color panties they had on underneath those short Catholic school uniforms.

EXCERPT:

He sauntered through the door, a white, button- down shirt tucked into belted khakis. When his dark gaze found her, he stopped. Stared. Her throat dried and a rustling motion stirred in her abdomen.

“Hi. I’m Darren Ray.”

Keep your cool, she commanded herself, standing and reaching across the desk. His hand was rough.

She yanked her hand back and waved at the chair. “Please, have a seat.” He waited for her to sit before settling in the visitor’s chair. “So, Darren, according to this, you’re being considered for a programmer position in the IT department. Tell me about your background.”

A professional mask settled over his features. “As you can see on my résumé, I have several years of consulting experience.”

“Tell me something about your experience as a mechanic.” Working on his prized old Mustang had been a favorite hobby.

The corner of his mouth twitched. “What do you mean? That’s not in my résumé.”

“You don’t have the hands of a programmer. More of a mechanic.” Oh, his hands.

“Okay, you got me.” He was going to confess. This should be good. “When I’m not programming computers I’m working on my car.”

“And what were you doing in New York City?”

He reached across her desk for a piece of paper, plucked a pen from its stand and scrawled something.  When she took the note their fingers brushed. Meet me for dinner at Pico’s at 7. I’ll explain everything. Can’t talk here.

That is until Lindsey meets Lieutenant Zachary Davis, a man who refuses to treat her like the trash she believes she really is.
But can Lindsey change her impulsive ways and learn to value herself the way the Zach does?

“You're a very pretty girl.”

She shrugged. “Yeah? So?”

He adjusted his white hat, still meeting her eyes. “So you don't have to do that to get attention.”

Lindsey frowned, snapping her legs together and sitting straight up. “Do what?”

“You know what.”

“What are you all dressed up for—a parade or something?” Lindsey squinted at him and saw he was wearing a name tag: Lieutenant Zachary Davis.

“I'm a recruiter.”

“For what?” Lindsey snorted, looking him up and down. Even the man's shoes were white! “The Pillsbury Dough Boy?!”

He raised an eyebrow in her direction. “The U.S. Navy.”

“So you're... what... a sailor?”

“On a nuclear submarine, but yes.” He cocked his head at her. “Do you have any interest in the Navy?”

She rolled her eyes. “Only if we're at war.”

“We are.”

“Yeah, well... not here we're not.”

“So what are you interested in...Lindsey?”

He'd obviously been paying attention. She leaned forward, putting her elbows on her knees and her chin in her hands. “Sex... Zach.”

“Is that all?”

“No...” She glanced over at the secretary, who was rifling through papers at her desk, but clearly listening to them. “I also like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain.”

Wild West Succubus: The Blog Tour

Wild West Succubus
Lila Shaw
Erotic Romance with a Splash of Humor

Blurb:
A woman damned…
Priscilla Goodnight, a widow in the harsh Kansas frontier, has a cattle ranch to run. She can’t afford to reveal any cracks in her tough exterior or indulge in sexual liaisons with her ranch hands. But a hungry succubus can only exercise so much self-restraint, making discretion, disguise and memory-wiping her top managerial skills.
The mysterious stranger who knows her darkest secret…
Priscilla doesn't remember hiring the man with the wily smile and the flannel voice. At all. Men as physically appealing as Hugo Desmond rarely escape her bed, let alone her memory. And how is he able to move so fast, yet nobody notices but her?
Is she his target, his mission or his bait?
Hugo is a gargoyle—a specially-trained executioner—sent to purge the west of evil. With succubi falling squarely in demon territory, Priscilla has every reason to fear him … yet she can't stay away. Hugo says he needs her help and wants to save her soul. But is redemption possible for a woman as wicked as Priscilla, or will love thaw her heart just enough for Hugo to crush it?

Excerpt:
A few of the men are laughing and eating breakfast, but as soon as I walk in, they grow silent … mostly.
“Morning, Miss Priscilla. Did you sleep well?” Fred asks, his last words ending with a snicker.
Most of the other men snicker too, all but Hugo, that is. He probably doesn’t know the rest well enough to be privy to their secrets.
Jesse slaps Gray on the back and Gray grins. Speaking through a mouth full of half-chewed biscuits, Gray says, “I slept like a titty baby myself.”
The others snort back their laughter. Hugo’s forehead furrows as he glances around the table.
I sigh. I don’t know why I expected better from Gray. But little boys must be taught their lessons, and the first one is don’t fuck with a succubus who holds your soul in hock.
After giving each man a smile in turn, I close my eyes and yank on Gray’s tether. He keels over and falls face first into the puddle of gravy on his plate.
“What the … Gray?” Jesse lifts Gray’s face from the plate and shoves him back against his chair, wide-eyed but unseeing. Mr. Yao’s savory sauce drips in long slimy strings from Gray’s nose. “Gray?” Jesse slaps Gray on the face a few times.
Gray isn’t home anymore. I slurp the last bits of his soul’s life-force in and breathe deeply as it spreads throughout every inch of my body. I am energized, immortal, powerful, and pissed off.
Hugo skewers me with his gaze, cold and hard. “Are you sure you want to do that? May raise more questions than it solves.”
What the hell is he talking about? Fuck him! Fuck all of them!
One by one, starting with Jesse, I lock gazes with each man around the table. As I ransack their recent memories, their expressions transform from mirth to horror to incoherent. The two newer hands I’ve never had to mind-wipe before—Winston and Jasper—fall asleep. The older hands will slowly regain their wits with what have been called devilishly hideous headaches. If any of them think they can take to their beds sick today, they’re dead wrong.
Hugo watches the entire proceedings, and when I get to him, my last target, he presses his lips into a thin line and resists my trespass into his mind. Those glacial blue eyes of his frost over and then seal shut, expelling me and slamming the door in my face.
How the hell is he able to do that?
With a snap of Hugo’s fingers, all motion, except his and mine, ceases. The clock stops ticking. A napkin casually tossed hovers an inch above the table’s surface. Mouths are frozen mid-word. Arms float rigidly in the air, and eyes stare blankly.
“Think, Pris,” Hugo repeats. His jaw is rigid, and his hands are curled into fists.
I stop trying to force my way inside Hugo’s mind. “Wh-what’s going on?” I wave a hand in front of Fred’s face, nearly threatening to put his eye out, but he doesn’t flinch, doesn’t even blink. I shove my chair away from the table and jump to my feet. “What kind of sorcery is this?”
Hugo slowly raises his eyes to mine. In measured words he says, “Give Gray back his soul.”
“I need it.”
“No.” He shakes his head. “You don’t.”
“He deserved what he got!”
“No. He didn’t. All you needed to do was mind-wipe him, just like the others. Sucking him dry is excessive. You don’t have to go that far. Besides that, we’re kinda short-handed. Do you really want to fall behind this time of year? Think about how hard it will be to find a replacement.”
The horror of this man’s cognizance of what I am grips me. “Who are you? What are you?” I take a few steps back, wondering if I should flee.
He lifts his eyes to mine. “I’m someone you should be very afraid of.”
“Afraid? Of you?” I throw my head back and laugh dramatically, just like those ladies on the stage. “Oh, little big man. I’m not afraid of any man.” But I am afraid of this one.

Ten Facts I Learned Researching Wild West Succubus:
One of the reasons I don't often write historicals is because I'm lazy.
There. I said it, confessed my sin.
You're probably slapping your head thinking, "This doesn't seem like a good way to convince me to give your book a shot." I would be thinking that too.
But the reason I share my terrible confession is because I believe if you're going to write a historical, make sure you do your homework.
Be mindful of what you can and can't use or reference in your story--figures of speech, clothing worn, density of the population and distances, flora and fauna indigenous to your setting, events in the world around the characters at that time and what their history books would have said.
That's tough to do, but necessary for anyone attempting a historical. I really wanted to write a western, however, so I rolled up my sleeves and dug in and learned a few facts it the process.
Here are my top ten:
1.                  Kansas is indeed flat and open, but there are also parts that are forested and have rock outcroppings and rivers. Mostly in the north and northeast.
2.                  Mountain lions are extremely rare in modern day Kansas but in the 1800's there were a lot more. Farmers and ranchers decimated the large cat population in the late 1800's, early 1900's.
3.                  No boxers or briefs in 1869 Kansas. Men most likely wore no underwear at all or wore union suits, patented in NY in 1868.
4.                  For women, the tiny waist was in style during the 1860's, but I seriously doubt my heroine, Priscilla, ever wore a corset. If she did, she would not have laced it tightly.
5.                  Kansas became the 34th state in 1861.
6.                  Abilene, Kansas was a popular cattle market and the end point for the Chisholm Trail, which began in Texas and was used between 1867 and 1884.
7.                  Priscilla's last name by marriage is Goodnight, taken from the famous Charles Goodnight of the Goodnight-Loving Trail fame.
8.                  Popular slang during that period included terms like, "Get a wiggle on" for hurry up, and "flannel mouth" for a smooth-talker.
9.                  Bram Stoker's Dracula wasn't written until 1897 so Priscilla would not have heard of the gent, though vampire legends are much older.
10.              Meals on cattle droves most likely consisted of beans seasoned with meat prepared by the cook who rode ahead with the chuck wagon. Vitamin C deficiencies were common and popcorn was a popular treat.

While I would never claim to be an expert on 1869 Kansas, far from it, I hope I added a little authenticity to Wild West Succubus.
Here's more about Wild West Succubus, my paranormal western historical romance with touches of urban fantasy in an anything but urban setting:

Yank Release Blitz

YANK BLURB
David has been brightening up his gray Surrey, England days with the porn collection hidden in his parents' shed, but when he finds that their American foreign exchange student, Dawn, has discovered his magazines, things really begin to heat up. David's parents insist that he look for a job, but Dawn has the week off and is determined to work on her tan. Distracted David finds himself increasingly tempted by their seductive foreign exchange student, who makes it very clear what she wants. In spite of the Study Abroad program's policy that no "relations" are allowed between a student and anyone in their host family--not to mention David's mother's insistence that they treat each other as "brother and sister,"--Dawn's teasing ways slowly break down the barrier between them until they both give in to their lust. But what are they going to do about the feelings that have developed between them in the meantime?

NOTE: This story appeared in another book titled NAUGHTY BITS. Previously titled Foreign Exchange, this is a slightly less naughty, but no less sexy re-telling--updated and redressed for your reading pleasure.

"David?"
I woke up with a grunt, hearing my name being hissed from beside the bed. It was dark, but I could make out her outline in the moonlight coming through the window. She was on her hands and knees, crawling toward me.
"Dawn?" I felt her find the bed with a thud.
"Ow." She whimpered.
"Christ!" I reached for her, groping in the dark. My hand found her arm, helping her up into the bed. "What are you doing?"
"Ta," she said, thanking me. I could smell the alcohol on her now. "It's a long way when you're legless."
"Shhhh!" I looked toward my door. I was listening for my Mum or Dad but didn't hear them. "C'mon, let's get you to bed."
"That's where I am." She crawled up against me in the dark and pressed me down, snuggling up against my bare chest. "Hey, you sleep naked! When did you start that?"
"Since I was fourteen," I whispered. "Keep your voice down, Dawn."
"I am." She kissed my shoulder. "You feel good."
"Okay." I tried to untangle her limbs from mine. "You are pretty well lashed, and I think this is a bad idea. C'mon, let's go."
"Noooo!" She slid her bare foot up the inside of my calf. She'd lost her heels somewhere, I noticed, but I could feel the skirt and blouse pressed against me, her body full and warm underneath, flushed from the alcohol. "Don't make me go."
"I think you'd better." I tried to sit, but she was clinging to me too tightly.
"I'll scream," she whispered into my ear, her breath hot against my neck.
"You will not." I edged my way out from under her.
I heard her intake of breath and knew she really meant to do it. What was wrong with her? Panicked, I rolled onto her, finding her mouth with my hand in the dark and pressing it there, hard.
"Button it!" I hissed, feeling her wiggling and squirming underneath me. Her skirt was riding high up and I felt her bare thighs against mine, her skin like velvet.
"Unbutton it," she murmured when I moved my hand away from her mouth, her fingers working her blouse from top to bottom between us. She pulled her shirt open, sliding her breasts against my chest, back and forth. Her nipples were hard, her breath hot with alcohol against my face, her hands roaming over my back. Why was she coming onto me like this all of a sudden? I didn’t get it.

Bind Me and Keep Me Tour and Giveaway

Bind-and-Keep-Me

BIND AND KEEP ME blurb
How far would you go to protect your love and your life?

When two deaths turn his world upside down, Klaus must wrestle with a problem that goes soul deep. With Jodie it was capture fantasy but now he’s made the fantasy real, dragging her along as his accomplice. No one should feel so good about something so wrong.

Maybe his soul is darker than he feared. Maybe the rules shouldn't apply to him.

Romance and Dubious Consent
The farther I’ve travelled into my writing of this Pierced Hearts series, the more I’ve learned about dubious consent stories. If you read these stories, you’ll have a fair idea as to what they involve. The average romance is totally consensual with very little hint of any noes from the heroine. A dub con story is based around the heroine going no when inside her head she’s going oooo…maybe. In real life this is that horror of horrors, a mindset that encourages rape culture, but inside a book it’s a very common fantasy of women.
Not real, fantasy. If you don’t like to read these stories, move on to one you do want to read, like that one about a serial killer terrorizing a town. Yes, us humans have some odd ideas about what to read.
Dub con comes on a sliding scale. Bodice rippers, where the heroine and hero fall in love, are at the mild end. At the other, dark and edgy end are stories which are pretty close to non-consent and rape. All dubious consent stories are closely intertwined with capture fantasy stories. I’ve loved reading these for many years and possibly John Norman’s Gor series were my first in this sub-genre. I used to hide them away in my bookshelf. Naughty me.
With this Pierced Hearts series of books, I’ve always meant to escalate the dubiousness of the consent as I went, as well as keeping the man someone you could understand and even, maybe, someone you have a strange urge to drool on and stroke the biceps of…
But as well as the dubiousness, I wanted to keep the romance alive. I wasn’t sure I could do that all the way through the story. I mean, if it’s full on dub con all the way, how can you have romantic love between him and her? Certainly the first book in the Pierced Hearts series, Take Me, Break Me, is a romance, but this one, Bind and Keep Me, was a more difficult nut to crack.
The ending had to be dub con, meaning the woman was still unsure in some way as to whether she wanted to be with him…
Yet maybe I could inject some romance?
Yes, writing this one gave me a few puzzles.
Can you have love if there is not full consent? Surely for two people to love one another it must be consensual? You cannot force love. You cannot force someone to love you. I’m pretty sure of that. But if you disagree, I’d love to hear your argument.
My first idea was, what if you love someone, but you don’t want to stay with them?
That might work. But the deeper I got into writing Bind and Keep Me, the more I doubted that I could end it with romance…or even that I wanted to. Jodie and Klaus were in love, did I really need any other romance to keep readers happy?
Would Stephanie fall in love with Klaus?
I never really figured out the answer to this question until I reached the end of the book.

Review:
This book was more than amazing. I started it yesterday, in a panic as the tour was getting closer and my schedule has been more than a little hectic of late. Figuring I would read for a short while and go to sleep, I was shocked to find a couple of hours had passed and thrilled to be deeply engrossed in this astounding book.
Cari Silverwood is one of my favorite BDSM writers. This story falls outside of those confines, as it is a non-con capture kind of story. The reasons behind it become abundantly clear and completely worked for me. What would any of us do in that situation? Well, I don't have a basement, but still...If you found yourself in the same position, what would you do? Hard question, but it is a compelling one that is still keeping me reading and I have great plans after lights out tonight to read some more.
As a captive, would you submit to your captors, knowing it would be the way out eventually? Another great question. One that has me riveted as I crawl back into bed with my e-reader this evening. Only Cari Silverwood can make a capture fantasy like this into a toe curling scenario that haunts my dreams in a most delicious way.

5/5

Early praise for Bind and Keep Me:
“Bind and Keep me, leads you down a depraved path full of dark desires that you know are so wrong, but feel too good for you to care. Cari Silverwood makes losing what we all cherish—our freedom—sinfully erotic.” - Bianca Sommerland, author of Deadly Captive
“Enthralling and seductive, BIND AND KEEP ME brings the taboo into our basements and locks us inside. A must-read for lovers of dangerous erotic fiction.” - Skye Warren, author of Wanderlust

Explicit Excerpt
“I’m not yours.” Her answer was quiet and tremulous.

Such bravery in the face of overwhelming superiority.

I stopped with my palm pressing her upper back down onto the mattress. Enough pressure that she could feel my strength, enough so that she tensed and then, as I didn’t relent, she gave in, her head lowering, her body quivering. Was she a true submissive? I was fairly certain she was.

“You’re pretty, beautiful even. Desirable. Fuckable. I scare you because I like pain more than you can comprehend. I’m not going to kill you. I’m not going to carve off your flesh and eat it. But, little toy, I am going to hurt you more than you think you can take.”

She froze in the middle of inhaling. I smiled and grasped a big handful of those dark locks just above her nape. I levered her head back until she was arched and her breasts were no longer concealed beneath her. So I took one in the grip of my other hand. “Mine,” I whispered. “You’re mine whether you fucking want to be or not.”
I squeezed both her breast and the fistful of hair, and I leaned down to look into her fear-darkened eyes.

“You need to learn not to be afraid of pain,” I murmured. “And you know why?”

She swallowed and I felt her endeavor to shake her head. Long strands of her hair fell across her face.

“If you lose that fear of pain, you will lose some of your fear of me. Not all, some. I’m not your nemesis, girl, I’m just going to be your master.”

Glossary of US and Australian terms
In the interests of not jerking most of my readers out of the story with some unfamiliar word usages, I opted to sometimes use the US word instead. However, since I completed the book, I’ve been told by many American readers that they’d rather I use the Aussie words.
I’m not entirely convinced. Since I think I have far more American fans than Australian, I may still be tempted in Book 3, “Make Me Yours, Forevermore”, to use some American terms. If you want to tell me otherwise, feel free to pop a comment on my facebook wall.
This example is why I hesitate:
Klaus put on his thongs and strolled out the door to take his daily walk on the beach.
US word vs Aussie
Cell phone = mobile   US term used in the story
College  = University or Uni   Australian word used
Dishcloth = tea towel   I used the US word
Flip flops = thongs   This was explained in the story
Cooler = esky   US word used with the Australian word
Popsicle = ice block   US word used
Shrimp = prawn   This was explained in the story
Spatula = egg flip   This was explained in the story, and it’s a regional Australian term that isn’t used nationwide, I think
SUV = Four wheel drive   US word used
There may be others I substituted but missed seeing. I have become so used to doing this in my stories that it’s almost automatic. I have also used US spelling throughout. Though this book is self-published both of my earlier publishers, Loose Id and Lyrical Press, used US spelling.
